Phlebitis
Hi all. Around this time last year I got a dvt in my thigh/ groin and wear my compression stocking religiously. Recently my "good leg" as I call it has been sore, red and tender to touch. I went to my gp today who diagnosed Phlebitis and I'm now being advised to wear a stocking on that leg as well

I give up!
Basically I've had three lots of blood taken on separate occasions (due to cock ups) and NOW the lab say they won't test for it as I 'don't meet the criteria' Apparently A-Fib doesn't count and the fact I didn't have a 'spontaneous' Pulmonary

Pulmonary hypertension?
Hi, I was diagnosed with Takayasu's Arteritis 6 months ago after having a pulmonary
embolism
about a year before and being unwell for about 2 and a half years. I'm on pred and methotrexate and have just started infliximab. Despite treatment I am still short of breath and tired.

Can't metabolize Coumadin (Warfarin). Anyone else have this same issue?
While on Coumadin at a fairly high INR level I got a huge clot in my abdomen. I was told that I don't metabolize Coumadin (Warfarin). I am now taking an Imitrex injection daily to thin my blood. Problem is my injections were donated to me by the company and I only have about 1 1/2 months left. I

Warfarin vs Heparin/Fragmin 10,000 units
Hi Everyone, Really hoping someone can help. I was started on Fragmin for a trial to see if symptoms improved. They have, I would say around 30 percent but was hoping for more. In the 4 weeks that I have been taking it, I have had 2 pretty bad headaches and that was the one thing I thought would definitely

Starting heparin and warfarin tomorrow - what can I expect?
After a stroke 8 years ago and several years of feeling increasingly I'll I've finally had SLE with secondary APS and Reynaulds confirmed. Bloods done in June and repeated in September showed increasing evidence. Finally got to see a haematologist last Friday (still waiting for appt at St Thomas') and

All 'done & dusted' - in sinus rhythm again!
I thought I was developing a chest infection but the doc in early hours of Saturday had ideas of investigating a pulmonary
embolism
(my mum died age 47 of this).

Further forward? Not so sure!
Finally got to see the cardiologist I wanted to yesterday and felt I got a few answers (yes definitely atrial fibrillation there) but STILL won't just put me on anti coags despite having had a spontaneous pulmonary
embolism
(found no cause for it) a while ago.

The flu vaccine for APS patients in the UK
The flu vaccine is available now at most GP practices in the UK. As APS is a long-term condition, the majority of GPs advise that we have the vaccine. If you do chose to have the flu jab, most APS patients do not have any adverse reactions and it is considered safe and effective. However, if you are

Does the flu vaccine affect Warfarin
I expect we will all be going for our Flu "jabs" very soon, and I wondered if the vaccine affects how Warfarin works. Last year I was on weekly/fortnightly checks so did not query this. Now, however, I am on 10 weekly checks and wanted know if I should make an earlier appointment with the Warfarin
