Need Support
My main struggle is with GAD but also have a history of
Dysthymia
. Right now, my anxiety is out of whack, largely in part because of work and an overbearing parent. I am unable to get adequate sleep because I tend to have ruminating thoughts at night.

Finally diagnosed + Fluoxetine help
Today I finally went to a psychiatrist and got formally diagnosed with
dysthymia
. Not sure how to feel about it. On one hand, it sucks having this but in the other, now I know it is something else and not just me being dramatic and exagerating my feelings.

I can’t do it
My depression was originally called “
dysthymia
” which is chronic long-term depression but after not being able to hold a normal job or a normal schedule in my 29 years of life and constantly having breakdowns I am looking further into my issues and it seemed like this forum was better suited to the extreme

Therapist Diagnosed at 35
For the longest time I thought it was attributed to
dysthymia
, something I was diagnosed with at 20, but have struggled with since I was in middle school. After trying 8+ different medications to help my fatigue, my depression was officially deemed ‘treatment resistant.’

Help! Horrible pregabalin side effects
Given the above, I decreased to 50mg, now 2 nights in a row, and I continue to have a dull bruised feeling in my head and profound
dysthymia
, inability to feel joy in anything, even though the weather is beautiful and I continue to ruminate on suicide.

Is Neuropsychological testing in an ADHD Evaluation Important?
Her diagnosis is depression (
dysthymia
). I told her that I had recently read that 80% of people with ADHD also have comorbidities such as depression and/or anxiety. She seemed a little annoyed that I said that and said sometimes depression can look like ADHD.

Hallucinogens
I was “diagnosed” with major depressive disorder/ anxiety /
dysthymia
years ago. However I show many racey symptoms of bipolar illness that I read about. All of these mental hinderances are a tough road on their own for the average person to succumb to right?

Anxiety again
I have Gad and
dysthymia
which sometimes erupts into more serious bouts. I’m in therapy trying to work through it and have learned a lot about myself but I still sometimes regress to the black hole. Covid isolation doesn’t help either. How do you all handle these lapses in progress.?

Why is it so hard to ask for help
I have
dysthymia
. Usually I can handle the average lows it is when they go to D’s I need some encouragement. It is easier for me to give then ask for it. Because this happens so often it is hard. I know I get out of it.

Sex drive and dysthymia
Hi all, I ve got
dysthymia
and have had no sex drive for many years now. I assume it must have to do with lack of neurotransmitters. Maybe getting a hormonal profile would be useful? Ican feel attraction but nothing else and after a while tend to lose both passion or interest in any relationship.

Acupuncture treatment and frequency for depression?
So I’m scheduling my first appointment in hopes of treating my persistent depression (maybe
dysthymia
) and anxiety. I’ve tried a lot of different meds over the past 5 years, yet I’m still depressed. I’m so ready to start feeling good that I’m willing to try almost anything.

Fleeting suicidal thought
I had a fairly good high school years with untreated
dysthymia
(low grade depression). My 1st major depression didn’t occur until my 30’s and the 2nd about 10 years ago. Both of these were the immediate result of traumatic life events.

New & also
I've been diagnosed with
dysthymia
, PMDD, major depression, anxiety. I'm also a healthcare provider, and while I have a ton of resources for understanding, I feel utterly, singularly alone.

Depressed
I have always had
dysthymia
but it's turning into full blown depression which brings out my ptsd issues such as abandonment. I'm not a bad looking guy but think I don't deserve any new stuff in my life. Intellectually I know this is bs but can't help myself.

Lonely
I’m a divorced 56-year-old woman who has been dealing with depression,
dysthymia
, and anxiety for most of my life. I never had support from my family or ex-husband. Many friends gave up on me and vanished. My two daughters don’t want to hear about it.

First time here
I was diagnosed with
dysthymia
about 7 years ago. I have been taking 10mg Escitalopram until about 7 months ago. Since early last December, I started a downward move mentally.
