Mucuna Puriens or natural Dopamine and Grapefruit juice
Does anyone have experience is using the natural source of Dopamine ( Mucuna Puriens) ? A few questions pop to mind, how do you decide on the dose? How do you time taking it in relation to eating? Can you take it as a supplement to your other Parkinson's medications? What frequency do you take it ?

Anyone else with RLS & mind racing? Poor quality sleep.....
My RLS is under control with dopamine agents, insofar as the sensation in my legs is concerned...but my mind is constantly active and I don't sleep deeply at all. It's not consistent, sometimes it's worse than other times. I know the drugs can cause insomnia. I don't have a problem falling asleep, usually

I am New here
Hi,I am drummer67, dx in august 2018, when as a drummer, I found I was losing the ability to do my Blues shuffle drum groove. I am finding the topics on PTT-FUS and autologous dopamine stem cell transplants as hopeful tx's for me in the future.I still work part time and do lots of bicycling and downhill

i am a mommy to a 5yo daughter recently dx with severe combined adhd & odd.. possible sensory issues (among other things).. it was also recently explained that, due to complications at birth, her brain is not creating enough (if any) dopamine ("she needs meds").. due to a blood disorder, her hematologist

Study - sugar dampens dopamine
A lot of people find eating sugar increases RLS could this be a clue. High-sugar diet dampens release of dopamine, triggering overeating "On a high-sugar diet, we find that the fruit flies' dopaminergic neurons are less active, because the high sugar intake decreases the intensity of the sweetness signal

Alcohol is a main RLS trigger for me
After many experiments with excluding different things from my diet I have to admit that the main trigger is an alcohol. Say, what's wrong with only 1 drink, especially if it's a red wine? Or a little bit a good brandy to fall asleep faster? Yeah, I always knew that alcohol does mess with your sleep,

Probiotics exacerbating restless legs
Hi, I've a history of RLS but have made big improvements. However, I just took a high dose probiotic (500 billion CFU per day for a week) and it's really triggered a return. I feel this surge of energy in my legs, and then they this involuntary movement. My best guess is that the probiotics settled in

Why Dopamine Freezes Parkinson Patients And Drives Drug Addicts
A dopamine imbalance triggers Parkinson's disease and drug addition -- two opposite diseases. How it worked to do this in the brain had been a mystery. New research shows dopamine strengthens and weakens the two primary circuits in the brain that control our behavior. This provides new insight into why

How is PD connected to Restless Leg Syndrome?
Or is it? I had a mild degree of RLS for several years. It wasn't enough of a problem to warrant medical help. Over the past few months the restless leg has gotten worse. Coincidentally two years I was diagnosed with PD. I was on Sinemet for over a year. Stopped it and switched to amantadine

2 Compounds Show Ability to Protect Neurons, Raise Dopamine Levels
"Two compounds with hormone-like effects — prostaglandin E1 (PGE1) and prostaglandin A1 (PGA1) — may help to increase dopamine levels in the brain and slow Parkinson’s progression by activating a protein, called Nurr1, that supports dopaminergic neurons, a study reports." https://parkinsonsnewstoday.com

Is there a limit on Dopaboost intake?
My dad is on a surgery waitlist for DBS here in Canada (probably next year) and we could potentially do FUS in Switzerland... But in the meantime, we have been trying to figure out the best dopamine sources to help him on the daily. Mucuna is much more effective than his Sinemet, which barely works anymore

Life without dopamine
Is a lot less funner than with. Everything seems so boring. Nothing exciting. Trying to hang in there and take my b1. And 10 other meds and supplements. Hard to get excited when your brain has to squeeze itself so hard just to get a tiny drop of the reward neurotransmitter. Sorry just another rant

Other reasons for arm tremor?
If Sinemet or other dopamine agonists have no effect on tremor does that suggest the root problem is not a dopamine deficiency?

Breathing abnormalities in Parkinsons
Several different patterns of breathing abnormality may be found in PD: Upper airway obstruction (UAO) has been reported in a third of people with PD. The most common manifestation of UAO is soft speech, which itself may affect up to 70% of people with PD. Two types of UAO have been described: (i)

Summary of Legitimate Stem Cell Therapy.
I recently received an email from Summit for Stem Cell Foundation which contained a great summary of legitimate stem cell research to combat Parkinson's Disease throughout the world. Here it is: Roger Barker, United Kingdom. (2018 – ongoing.) Fetal tissue transplants for Parkinson’s disease.

What are the downsides of NOT taking dopamine drugs?
Wondering if I should keep holding off on taking dopamine therapy. I've been avoiding taking it since my diagnosis a year ago due to an overall dislike of pharmaceuticals in general and in hopes of avoiding the side effects. Just watched a talk by Dr. Laurie Mischley (link below, at minute 26) where

Too much of a good thing
The publication twenty years ago describing excessive therapeutic drug dosing in some Parkinson's disease patients foreshadowed behaviours now well recognised. The recognition and description of a behavioural syndrome in a group of patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD) who take dopamine replacement

This was not a double blind test, so placebo effect cannot be ruled out, BUT two years after therapy, there's considerable reason for cautious optimism.
