Probiotics exacerbating restless legs

Hi,

I've a history of RLS but have made big improvements. However, I just took a high dose probiotic (500 billion CFU per day for a week) and it's really triggered a return. I feel this surge of energy in my legs, and then they this involuntary movement. My best guess is that the probiotics settled in my small intestines and I have a lot of SIBO. But wondering it if's Serotonin or dopamine related. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is this common?

Thanks.

I had exactly the same experience. I’m gluten allergic like many RLS sufferers. I’m not sure if that was a factor.

Sugar is a known trigger, and white bread has a higher GI than pure sugar. I'd advise to cut out sugar and wheat based products.

Saliava breaks down gluten quickly and one thing that's released is glaiadin. Glaiadin opens up the 'pores' in the upper part of the small intestine to cause leaky gut syndrome, ibs and other gut problems.
