Emerging cell cycle inhibitors for treating metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer.
Therapy for metastatic CRPC includes abiraterone acetate, enzalutamide,
docetaxel
, cabazitaxel, sipuleucel-T, and radium-223. However, survival remains modest for men with progressive disease despite AR-targeted therapy and
docetaxel
, and therefore novel treatments are needed.

Phase 2 Trial of Irofulven to Treat Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer Opens in Denmark
Results were positive, including a 10% response rate in patients with prostate cancer previously treated with
docetaxel
and 13% in ovarian cancer patients relapsing between 6 and 12 months after standard treatment with carboplatin and paclitaxel, but were not deemed sufficient for regulatory approval

Enzalutamide Resistant already?
After my husband's PSA did not respond to zytiga, after rising post
docetaxel
while on Lupron and Casodex, he was switched to Enzalutamide. His PSA went from 6 to 1.0 ( August to September 12) in a month, now a month later( September 12-October 28) it's already back up to 1.6.

Another randomized clinical trial shows no benefit to adding docetaxel to radiation + ADT in high risk patients
On the whole, there is no benefit to adding
docetaxel
at the end of radiation and then continuing with long-term ADT in high risk men. One trial (GETUG-12) found a benefit to chemo PRE-treatment. https://pcnrv.blogspot.com/2016/08/

Survival benefit to debulking the prostate with hypofractionated radiation in men with low metastatic burden
Otherwise, it had no benefit - but
docetaxel
does! https://pcnrv.blogspot.com/2018/09/no-survival-benefit-to-debulking.html

Here's our story
Next step is the
Docetaxel
. Not sure if they will include prednisone, but I suspect they will. He will get 6 weeks of infusions, one every 7 days. All of his doctors are still stunned with what they see.

Zytiga or Docetaxel ??
I posted here in early August that my PSA had fallen to 2.33 from 16.51 in January, after 38 fractions of radiation + Cassodex + Eligard. In early October, my PSA has risen to 8.7 and a PSMA test has indicated several extra mets to bones and left shoulder. A small nodule in the left lung as well.

Debulk or not debulk, that is the question...
Again, no RCT showing benefit of close sequencing
docetaxel
and Zytiga yet. As of now, I'm thinking to get a 2nd opinion on other possible options but most likely will receive similar with a slight nudge depending on what type of doctor and school I will talk to.

PSA rising after 2 years on Eligard...options?
The PC was too widely spread for surgery or radiation so I was Treated with 6 rounds of
docetaxel
and am still on Eligard every 4 months. Also participating in the Titan (Apalutamide) Clinical Trial. 95% certain I am getting the real drug due to a very bad and persistent rash.

MO wants to pause Zytiga when PSA reaches 0
He had 6 cycles of
Docetaxel
(low dose) and is currently on Lupron alongside Zytiga. No mets so far, he only a few lymph nodes but they shrank with the chemo regimen.

Infection during chemo
My lovely wife and I are trying to understand more about the danger of infection while getting
Docetaxel
infusions. I had my first one last week and will have five more to go.

Happy anniversary - trick or treat
So I’ve had
Docetaxel
, Zytiga and 45 days of radiation, all in the hope that my cancer was oligometastatic (a fancy way of saying it has spread but not real far), and that it might be cured.

White cells
My baseline normal white count dropped to 2000 (total) 8 days after first
docetaxel
infusion. No surprise there. Is it worse with later doses?

25 Somatic Gene Mutations!
My dad, newly diagnosed with metastasized PC, has suffered many discomforts from
Docetaxel
and other medicines prescribed for treatment. Despite the blood clot in his neck, hives, extreme fatigue, neutropenia, bone pain, nausea....etc......his PSA came down from 1200 to 20.
