Palpitations and pregnant
Hi, am 45 and 7.5 wks pregnant. Was diagnosed as borderline thyroid in 2012/13 and also had v low iron (5) and low B12. Dr gave me supplements and 50mg levo. Took the levo for a couple of weeks on a couple of occasions and had to stop as heart was too racy. TSH seemed to normalise itself a little so

Which iron supplement?
I have been told I am iron deficient but doctor and endo have differing views on it. Ferritin is low - 23 (15-150) but complete blood count is normal except for MCV which was below range. It was 76f/L (80-100). My doctor told me at an appointment weeks ago it was slightly under range and in the past

Hashimoto's
I have Hashimoto’s. I have been on T4 for over a year. I am currently on 100mcg for the T4 and10mcg for the T3 but I have quite a few problems that I don’t know what to do about. Low ferritin - Iron deficiency? I have been told I am iron deficient because of my low ferritin and given ferrous fumarate

Iron, vitamin B12 and vitamin D
Hi, My results as shown in my previous post came out low for my Ferritin, Vitamin D and B12 although it was just the Vitamin D that was below range. The doctor gave me Ferrous fumarate 210mg (not to be taken close to my Levothyroxine) and I was advised to get Valupak vitamin D3 over the counter and

Hypothyroid and iron deficient
Hi, I have posted about this before but I am really desperate now. I have been suffering for just over a year and it is now really beginning to get me down. My hypothyroidism had been reasonably well controlled for the past seven years since having my liothyronine increased from 20mg to 60mg three times

Doctor says symptoms are from diet
Hello, I have just joined. I am 22 years old and I have been told by my doctor in 2012 I have Hashimoto‘s. The number of antibodies has been fluctuating up and down as well as my TSH and Free T4 and Free T3 levels. I have been taking Levothyroxine since 2012. I have Vitamin D and iron deficiency as well

MTHFR compound heterozygous mutation
That's a mouthful right there! I have what is known as a compound heterozygous mthfr mutation. Basically this means that I received one faulty copy of two different genes that deal with methylation. In a practical sense, it affects enzyme production that breaks down folate and homocysteine and it's

Slightly scalloped tongue but don't know why
So there I was, brushing my hair and sticking my tongue out at myself in the mirror, when I noticed that my tongue seemed ever so slightly scalloped, looked a bit bigger than usual and seemed also to be slightly more shiny or glossy along the edges. It's only very slight but I don't think I'm seeing

Having hypo symptoms
I'm hoping someone can help. I am not getting on well with the Levothyroxine - it makes my symptoms worse and not better. I went to the GP 3 times last week to talk about my results and that I feel no benefit on the Levothyroxine - 2 of the GPs asked me if everything at home was ok, which I knew they

What to do?!
Hi! Just returned from seeing my GP again to review my latest blood results. My previous results were TSH =3.14. FT4= 9.6 (7-17) b12 212 (150-1000). My new results were TSH =2.72. FT4= 10.6 (7-17) Folate = 9.12 Ferratin =26 (15-300) and negative for Coeliac. Despite that I'm still complaining of

Raising ferritin levels
Hi, I tried taking ferrous sulphate 200mg tablets with calcium + vit D. This made me feel really sick all the time in spite of taking them with food. I am currently taking ferrous fumarate 210mg tablets with 500mg vit C tablets. I am finding these a little better but not much. Some people on this site

Please recommend an iron supplement - thanks
I'm having my ferritin tested next week and it looks as if I will be ferritin deficient again. I've got a prescription for ferrous fumarate, but I'm happy to pay for something easier to take and more effective. The last time I had this issue, it took me five years to get my ferritin up from16 to 102

Ferrous Fumarate - any update on availability?
Just wondering whether anybody has heard anything. I've now had to stop taking Fersaday as stomach pain has become unbearable so now seeking an alternative, ideally one that doesn't need taking with meals.

Testing Ferritin Levels
Long story short: About a year ago my ferritin levels were on the floor (4ng/ml, range 15-200ng/ml, I think, not sure), was prescribed ferrous fumarate and the level climbed over the course of about six months to 70ng/ml or so. Since it was at a good level my GP and I agreed that I should drop down to

Have had low ferritin (2) and never had b12 tested
Had low ferritin for ages, it's only coming up very very slowly, seen gastroenterology specialist who just said I need to take iron indefinitely, either daily tablets or intravenous every 6 months. No one has said how much to take....my GP said for me to adjust as necessary....well I don't know how

Felt brilliant in both pregnancies so looking for clues...
A little off topice but hoping you'll be able to help... I've been pregnant twice, with two healthy children as the outcome. Physically, pregnancy is not kind to me: I had symphis pubis dysfunction twice (less awful in the second pregnancy as about three stone lighter) and gestational diabetes twice
