Hi everyone, I'm writing on behalf of my mum, who is a 61 and is positive, happy, and fit as can be despite having OC :) We are really desperate for any information on chemotherapies and treatments that might be available for her. She has had stage 4 ovarian cancer for a year and a half now. It is

Hi everyone, Just back from my appointment for the TEP scan results. It's just what I suspected (CA125 at around 230) : nodes everywhere... The oncologist asked the radiologists whether they could treat me by radiation, but it was a big NO - too many nodes in too many places, including in the neck. As

Hi all Just had the results of my PET scan and all is clear...no little cancer cells anywhere else! So great news. The treatment plan is Gemcitabine and cisplatin chemotherapy due to start in about 2/3 weeks. It's in a 3 week cycle for 3 months. I have to stay in hospital on day one of all 3 cycles

Machine learning algorithms could predict breast cancer treatment responses
Different patients with the same type of cancer can have different responses to the same medication, which leaves doctors in a tough spot: how do they know which treatment will have the best response? If they get it right, their patient may enter remission; but if they're wrong the patient's health will

Pet scan results
Had my pet scan on the 25th August after 6 months chemo ( carboplatin plus caelyx) then 7 months of maintenance on caelyx. Saw my oncologist 31st August, not happy with pet scan results -- cancers that were inactive are now active again plus I have new ones so maintenance chemo didn't work!! Started

Carbo Meltdown
Hi Girls. Just update you on my recent chemo round. As you know I was heading into cycle 2, 4th line, with carboplatin/gemcitabine and Avastin was to be added in shortly (again). Had a mildish reaction to carbo during cycle 1, so additional anti-histamines & anti-nausea added in for cycle 2. Well...that

The end of chemo
Hi ladies Hope everyone is doing ok. I haven't posted for ages but am still here in the background! Mam had to stop daily cyclophosphamide and fortnightly avastin in March, she was worn out. Her next scan showed it had only just been holding things steady, and the cancer had progressed, thickening
