Cytomel

My GP has prescribed Cytomel but I can't find it in pharmacies. On the prescription is says Cytomel (imported from United States) Any ideas if I can get this on NHS? thanks

If I have read it right, each 5 microgram Cytomel tablet costs £3.79. And the average prescription is for about 104 tablets - which suggests that for each doctor insisting they be prescribed in 112 tablet quantities, two prescribe in the 100 tablet quantities they come in.

It's even more for Cytomel. Currently I am only taking Nutri Thyroid, and I don't know if it is the lack of T3, or lack of adrenal support that's causing my serious dive.

Remember that this medication is called CYNOMEL and not by the similar name of CYTOMEL make sure you spell it correctly when you fax them! I currently purchase 0.025mg and I do not know whether they sell other volumes of CYNOMEL, you would have to ask them.

My bloods were taken and I am going to get my results soon and depending on how they come back I may be given some options. 1) stop levothyroxine altogether 2) try another type of levothyroxine 3) try levothyroxine and cytomel 4) try cytomel . Can anyone give me some advice please.

Treatment will be this: Cut down Nutri Thyroid to 2 x a day and start Cytomel. 12.5mcg at at breakfast for 10 days then if all ok 12.5 mcg breakfast and same lunch. What do I need to know about this. I see its synthetic. Can't see many side effects...How long before I will see an improvement??

I am on 50 Thyroxin but just convinced my doctor to try some Cytomel even though she said my labs are perfect. I don't think I am converting T4 to T3 but I don't know how to dose, she said cut the Thyroxin down to 3 days a week and take 20mcg of Cytomel every monring.

Hello everybody, I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I could purchase T3 from, Ideally in the form of Tertroxin not Cynomel or Cytomel, this is because of the strengh of it, I have Cynomel in 25mg tablets but that is far to strong for me, the tablets are tiny and even cutting them into four

Have been taking cytomel (75mcg) for a coupe of months now. I have also recently re started Levo ...about 2 weeks ago as was startng to feel quite symptomatic.

I am to have a blood test on Tuesday (fasting) for T3 levels as I take Cytomel. Should I take my morning dose before the test? I would be grateful for any advice Thanks Florie

I am taking Cytomel for Hashimoto's. Should I take my tablets or wait till after the test. I was doing really well but have strated to have the shakes and thumping high pulse. only taking 40mcg Cytomel per day.

i was taking 137 of synthroid, and 5 of cytomel. my new endocrinoigist dropped my synthroid to 125 a year ago and kept the cytomel at 5. my hair starting falling out at an alarming rates and still is, its been doing this for over 8 months. i have half as much hair.

I am currently on 2 grains of Thiroyd-S, one at 5.00am and one at 11.00am, and 1/2 tab of Cytomel (25mcg, therefore 12.5mcg) at around 5.00pm. I feel very weak and wobbly, both before and since I added T3 to the 125mcg Levo - at the endo's advising, by the way!

I am concerned that if I go back down that route, I will no longer be able to get T3 in the future and have emailed my endo to ask if he would look into ordering Cytomel on a named patient basis.
