Amanda,
Do you specifically mean the brand "Cytomel" or do you mean any Liothyronine medicine? Others who buy online have various preferences but the most popular appears to be Grossman Cynomel.

Hi Rod
Tbh I am not sure, am on levothyroxine 50mg for hypo but am still exhausted / emotional, losing hair and gaining weight - doc says bloods are normal but having read threads feel I would benefit from t3 and read it was cytomel / cynomel so would like to order some to see if it helps
Do you have a recent blood test result? There are various other things to try first. Making sure you are on an adequate dose of thyroxine is essential. You may be exhausted purely because you are not on a high enough dose. Some doctors tend to stop increasing the dose as soon as you fall into the normal range whereas, in reality, you may need to be at a different point within the range to feel well.
50mcg is a low dose. Although some people only need a low dose, many people do need more than this and some people in excess of 150mcg.
It is also important to get other things checked out. Your body may not be able to use thyroxine properly if your iron is low. It is a good idea to get your serum iron and ferritin (stored iron) checked out. Serum iron should be well within range and ferritin seems to be best around 70-90.
Other things to check out are folate (best above 12 for many people), vitamin B12 (research suggests it should be above 500) and vitamin D. All of the above, including the iron and ferritin, tend to be low in hypothyroid patients and can affect how well your body uses thyroxine. They can also cause symptoms of hypothyroidism. It is important to get these checked, and rectified if necessary, before changing your medication otherwise you may find you have exactly the same problems even with t3 as you do with thyroxine.
I know this doesn't answer your original questions but I hope it helps

Hi Be sure to have a blood tst for TSH, T4 and Free T3 before takiig any T3, also retest 6 weeks after starting ,even a small dose.If you could prove to GP with the test, that you need T3, I expect they will prescribe it. T3 can be quite dangerous, very powerful and bloods are vital. You are also on a very low dose of Levo, are you sure your T4 is high enough. Have a print out of all bloods, receptionist, with the ranges ( keep), as all Labs differ. it is possible that with more T4, if shown, that your body will convert the T4 to FT3,it should do that, but often does not, hence then the T3.
Best wishes,
Jackie
