Hello mabaker & welcome,

yes but it would be Liothyronine (or T3) - some members are on a T4/T3 combination.

Have you had a look at the main TUK site?

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/treatm...

And there is a book available at Chemists by Dr Toft which explains things a few things too. (Also via the TUK site) J :D

Thank you very much, I will check it out. Found out today following a ultrasound scan that my thyroid gland appears small with heterogenous ecotexture (whatever that means). My last thyroid function test : Serum 14.1 pmol/L free T4 level (10-26) Serum 2.80mu/L TSH (0.20-5.00) Don't know if you can enlighten me regarding all this. Many thanks again

Have a look here:

sonoworld.com/CaseDetails/D...

(For anyone reading this, I think it should actually be echotexture. Though you'd surely be unlikely to know that if you have only heard is spoken!)

Have just tried the web site you suggested, it said permission denied you cannot look at these case details. Any other suggestions please, thank you

Try this link:

Same information!

(I am surprised as it seems unlikely I have ever signed up to that site.)

Thank you once again. I managed to get onto the web site that you just mentioned but still find it difficult to understand. The ultasound scan I have had states "The thyroid gland appears small with heterogenous ecotexture. No focal nodules seen. No retrosternal extention noted".

The reason I was having the ultrasound scan was not for my thyroid but in an endevour to see if I have Hodgkin Lymphoma as I have several swelling, one in my kneck and chest, one on the side of my knee and another in my lower left abdomen. But I must say that I do wonder if all this is connected to my thyroid problem . It was so good of you to take the time in replying. thanks again.
