One-year Anniversary: Reflections of a Breast Cancer Survivor
Apr 25, 2017 09:00 am | Jessica Grono April 8 marked the one-year anniversary of the double mastectomy that erased cancer from my body. I am having a difficult time wrapping my mind around it being a whole year. Because I’m busy, I didn’t do anything spectacular on this anniversary, but it sure made

Not a Warrior
64 yr old single woman. Had double mastectomy. It’s been 2-yrs since I completed chemo. I ‘m angry, sad, disappointed, hate my body, I gained a lot of weight, don't exercise or eat well anymore. Am fatigued all the time, depressed, on anti-depressants. Was in some support groups, but found unhelpful

Nearly a year post chemo
Has anyone suffered itching following chemo?! I have been doing really well and then about 6 weeks or so ago my scalp and the back of my neck started to itch. The hospital thinks it may be to do with my hair growing back. Whatever is causing it, nothing seems to be helping much. It really does drive

Cellulitis, Day 6, any advice?
Hi, I'm new and found this by pure chance. I have cellulitis in my lower leg, which started off last Sunday, I guessed it was this as I've had it four times before in my arm. Went to GP on Monday first thing and got Flucloxacillin 1 four times a day, normally my arm would go down within 3-4 days but

Reassurance needed about underarm cording ....
Hello all... I had axillary clearance two and a half weeks ago and now have horrible 'cording' in my armpit which I'm finding really really distressing. I managed the mastectomy fine, the chemo, hair loss, nipple removal, you name it, but I'm really struggling with this. It makes me feel horrible and

Bad anxiety
Hi I was diagnosed in Dec 16.coped with surgery-small lump removed not spread to lymph nodes. Had radio and now on letrozole. No probs with anything but the letrozole has made me very anxious! People tell me I'm lucky as no mastectomy or chemo, and on the face of it I'm much better off than others. I

Preparing for the Most Unexpected Body Change After Breast Cancer
After breast cancer surgery, many women are caught off guard by a lack of sensation in their breast(s) and other affected areas. They have a lumpectomy, mastectomy or reconstruction and ask: “Am I ever going to get any feeling back… in my armpit? …over the scar? …on the inside of my arm?” They might

Yesterdays blood results- first since asking for serum B12
Yesterday I got my first blood results since starting this journey to try and help find the source of my health issues. The GP had refused IF antibodies . To my dismay the lab (local hospital ) had refused to test for serum B12 as it was done pre op in January and deemed normal. It can't be done for

What have you learned and shared from your experience?
Hi! My name is Tina. I had bilateral mastectomies in 2009. I learned a lot from my experience. A big challenge for me was managing my JP drains, especially in the shower. One thing I do now is to make and sell drain belt kits. I also gift them to others. During recovery, A friend would come over and
