Questions about Protein and Supplements for weight training after transplant
Hi, I'm new on this site and had a general question for those who are athletic and have had a kidney transplant. I have had a very successful kidney and pancreas cadaver transplant for about 9 years now. I am becoming more active and spending more time in the gym. I've been reading the common literature

PD dialysis
Does anyone have recommendation as to starting PD v. in center Hemo. No partner so home Hemo seems problematic. Infection, discomfort with fluid in abdomen with PD. Hemo seems hard to sit in a chair for 3-4 hours, and maybe washed out afterwards.

Important to consider sleep apnoea as a contributor to thyroid, fatigue and related metabolic troubles
Hi all. This post is as the heading, but first some context. It’s a bit of an essay. I’m no doctor, so this is an account of my own experience – we each have to make our own decisions. The take-away should you conclude it may be relevant is towards the bottom. It’s perhaps old hat by now, I’m a bit

I injured my fistula, it's clotted, do you recommend having it removed?
I had my transplant a year and half ago but I haven't used this fistula since 2005 because I was on peritoneal dialysis. I was working out with my usual routine but I added a little extra weight and more sets then two days later we had a work day at my church then that night I noticed pain in my upper

Keeping hydrated with kidney disease
Right now in the the northeast of the United States, we are in a very dry bad drought. The temperatures have been staying in the 90's with high humidity. When the weather is like this, it is important to stay hydrated. But that can be tricky with kidney disease depending on the stage you are in. For

Dialysis vs. Transplant Survival Rates
My father (age 74) is in the process of starting peritoneal dialysis. While he has had high blood pressure for most of his adult life and developed type II diabetes around 10 years ago, he has been living a pretty active healthy lifestyle. I am considering offering to be a live donor and am trying

New stage 5
Hi. I am new to the group. New stage 5 and getting a fistula tomorrow. Told it is urgent. I am hoping to have a graft but was told my vessels are too small they would try. I’m 50 kids at home going to college. Still slugging along working. Tired. Itchy(thought I had scabbies, before I was diagnosed😂

Dialysis Options
In preparation for dialysis which I hope will not happen, I need to make a decision about center or home. I have been doing a lot of research. I am wondering about people's experiences. I would like to do home dialysis, but do not have a partner, is this really necessary ? I do know people who do

CPAP weaning!
Hi Irina I was on a cpap machine for 8 years after a minor brain haemorrhage. I never had the typical apnea symptoms and only knew I had it due to my wife's insistance that I stopped breathing for long periods during my sleep. The cpap stopped the apnea but I never felt any benefit to my general health

Weaning off a cpap machine.
Not really an a-fib question but many of us are on C-Pap machines. Has anyone ever been able to wean off their machine? And if so, how did you do it? Thanks irina

Blood pressure.
Hi there, how is everyone doing? My blood pressure is below 200 for the 1st time in more than a year. I am really happy about the improvement but unfortunately I have to go for dialysis as my numbers for creatinine, Grf, etc are skyrocketing and my kidneys are failing according to my doctor. Anyways,

Kidney Buddy
I'm new to this site. I was diagnosed with kidney disease at 26. I started dialysis at 55 & received a new kidney at 64. I would LOVE to have a kidney "buddy" again! My close friend who had been thru my similar experiences with ESRD passed about a year ago. We shared so much, especially support that

Living Donation and Blood Pressure
I am considering offering to be a live donor for my father who is about to go on dialysis. I am 50 years old and very healthy; however, whenever I have my blood pressure checked it is around 130-135/80 which I guess is technically categorized as stage 1 hypertension. It has been in this range for the
