Losing my determination
I was diagnosed with NSCLC in mid 2019 after extensive tests at a hospital with a specialist dept for diagnosis and forward treatment. One primary tumour in each lung and 2 lymph. They passed me over to the Oncology dept once diagnosis was complete. First was Pembrolizumab which gave a tangible improvement

Skin problems chemo
Hi all, my husband was diagnosed with Gbm on March 1st, had awake surgery to remove, radiotherapy and then 6 months chemo as per standard treatment. He is tolerating quite well, put on weight and is always positive. He never looks up his diagnosis in Google. But since 2 months he gets boils and abscesses

Well, terrible night's sleep! Appointment at Salford Royal today, going to be a long day. Morning a chat with Consultant and mask measurements in afternoon! That sounds very scary, can anyone reassure me! Back on Monday for another consultation and mask check. Radiotherapy week after. I'll keep you

Ataxia following brain surgery
I've had brain surgery around 10 times, none since 2009 thank god, but that one did leave me with ataxia. I spent 3 months in a transitional living unit learning to live on my own. I was told that I had ataxia by my neurosurgeon but no mention of a type. I also had radiotherapy. Now I am married and

Radiotherapy burns
Hi guys After having my whole right lung removed I was doing very well and walking up to 20 minutes at a time. Since having 10 days of radiotherapy a couple of weeks after I have developed very shortness of breath and can’t walk a few yards without gasping for air I had a bronchoscope as there though

Radiation Cystitis?
New study below [1]. I don't recall Radiation Cystitis being discussed here. "Objectives: To elucidate the national burden of emergency department (ED) visits for radiation cystitis (RC), a known complication of radiation therapy to the pelvic area, among patients with a prostate cancer history ..."

Questioning modern cancer treatment.
Hello, I have kept my cancer treatment to a personal basis sharing it only with some family and friends. Almost 7 years ago, I was diagnosed with Stage 4, Prostate Cancer and a Gleason Score 9, positive margin. As most, I went through prostate biopsies, the radical robotic proctectomy, radiation treatment

Looking for face mask ideas
I am here on behalf of my mother who is 91 and generally very fit and healthy. However she has osteochondroma of the face and she is now struggling with a shiny red golf ball sized lesion on her left cheek. This has grown and is distorting her eye. She is undergoing radiotherapy and we are hoping this

Radiation Fibrosis of Lung
Hi Everyone, My mum completed 15 fractions of radiotherapy during her breast cancer treatment and we have now learnt that this has caused fibrosis of her left lung. Does anyone have any information on this? I have been on Google and scared myself senseless! Thanks x

I'm new here and feeling blessed
Hi everyone - so good to see all the wonderful support on this site. I was diagnosed in April/May this year (following a recall on routine mammogram) with 9mm invasive lobular carcinoma left breast and had a lumpectomy with target wide local excision and sentinel lymph node biopsy on the 18th May.

Timing of Radiation treatment after starting ADT
From the few studies I have seen the sweet spot ( for maximum shrinkage of the prostate) seems to be 12 to 24 weeks after starting on ADT ( I am on Lupron and Zytiga). I want to hit the cancer with radiation when it is at it's weakest. Is there and reason to wait longer or conversely any reason to wait

Hi Ladies It has been suggested that I have a 1 session radiation treatment for pain in the sacrum . Can anyone share with me what I can expect after the treatment ? How many days of increased pain etc. With the busy holiday season I would like to plan my life a little 🤪. Thank you Luann

Activators and Inhibitors of NRF2: A Review of Their Potential for Clinical Development
Activators and Inhibitors of NRF2: A Review of Their Potential for Clinical Development https://www.hindawi.com/journals/omcl/2019/9372182/ Lots of interesting reading in here. I will just share the cautionary part: 4. Pharmacologic Inhibitors of NRF2 The implication of NRF2 in cancer is still controversial

Sharing experiences
Hello thought I would just share my experience as it may be reassuring for some. I was diagnosed with a vestibular schwannoma (AN) by my local hospital then referred to Addenbrooke’s in November 2018. As the tumour was quite big I was offered the option of either surgery or fractionated radiotherapy.

Treating recurrence with Doxil: Side Effects?
I am three years from the end of carboplatin and Taxol chemotherapy for my Stage 3 ovarian cancer. Prior to chemo I had a complete hysterectomy, omentectomy, appendectomy, and transverse colon resection. I now have a recurrence, with a tumor near the sigmoid colon and rectum. There is no surgery or radiation

Radiotherapy recommended.. but I'm worried about the side effects
Hi. I have been told my tumour is now growing but slowly and radiotherapy has been recommended. I'm worried as they say that my right hand side of my face could be affected and my balance could be worse. What side effects have others experienced?
