Hi this is my second round of cancer had APR in 2018, removal of my rectum and permanent colostomy. In 2020 had secondary cancer which decided to wrap its self around the nerves in front of my sacrum, so was given chemo and radio therapy, this did the trick and tumour disappeared and I'm on 3 monthly scans, but have been left with chronic coccyx pain which also goes across my right buttock, hip and pain in my groin area, I have been told this is nerve damage. But all I have been offered is anti depressants which leave me feeling spaced out but still in pain, so have decided not to take these I do take codydromol and it sometimes takes the edge of, Have also after researching been taking increased vitamin B12 as told this may help, tried tens and use hot and cold to sit on as this sometimes helps. Has anyone tried pain patches and do they work. sorry this is so long.

Hi chewwy, goodness you've been through a lot. You're poor body needs time to recover and everything has obviously left scars and the area is still suffering from the trauma. Along with the phycological effects. I can't begin to imagine how you feel. However it has to be, onwards and upwards now. Major surgery takes a good few years to heal and getting your head around living in a different body also takes time. Allow yourself to be angry with it and then look at what you can do with this new body to make the best of it. Have you had any physio? Gentle stretching exercises to help with repairing the muscles, tendons and reusing those joints that have also been manipulated, to allow the procedures you've endure. Little exercises often are better than one big session once a week. Get outside as much as you can even if it's just to stand at the front door and breath in some fresh air. You've got to mend and repair both mind and body and know it will take time. Hopefully you will see some light in the coming months as you take back control of this new body. Xx

Hi Chewwy

I take Paracetamol most days, at night I take 1 Nortriptyline that was prescribed by the

GP.

What really been helping , is natural CBD supplement

Which it makes it bearable at times

Please check with your GP about B12 supplement

Do you have a cancer support centre where you live ?

They can offer alternative treatment

Please take care

Sending you a big hug 🤗 X

Thank you for you post, today i have been and bought CBD oil and started it already hoping it will make a difference, I will let you know. I will check with the support centre if there is anything they can do, only problem is I go to Addenbrooks and have to travel for a good hour to get there, but still worth a try, once again thank you
