In the following link, it is described how women with PD may be at increased risk for breast cancer among others :

Melatonin has shown many positive effects in fighting cancer and among those effects are synergy with chemo agents such as Doxorubicin, a chemotherapy agent typically used for breast cancer and other cancers.

In the following study it is shown that melatonin works together with Doxorubicin through different methods and pathways in a breast cancer model to fight breast cancer and more particularly to help fight metastasis.

Here is a quote from the abstract :

>>> ' The combination of melatonin with doxorubicin reduced primary tumor growth and distant metastasis. Based on these results, melatonin is a promising candidate for combinatory use with conventional chemotherapeutics for breast cancer treatment. ' <<<

Given the known excellent safety profile of melatonin that is better than any drug used to treat cancer and the fact that melatonin has shown in hundreds of studies to have multiple anticancer effects as well as synergy with chemo and radiotherapy while inhibiting many of the the negative side effects associated with these two modalities, melatonin seems to be definitely worth considering as adjunctive treatment of breast cancer. Add in the three studies showing that melatonin is beneficial for PwP at both 10 mg/day and 50/mg day and melatonin seems made to order. Given its potential cancer preventative effects, and what's not to like.
