Double Lung Transplant
My uncle got a double lung transplant September 11, 2020. He is currently in ICU. He had to have 2 emergency surgeries due to one of the lungs not working properly. He was put on an ECMO machine and ventilator. 2 days later they put him on dyalisis. I've been visiting him daily. It's so hard to see him

Clinical Trial of Selpercatinib Shows Strong Response for Patients with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer.
An international team of researchers has found that selpercatinib, a drug that precisely targets cancers driven by mutations or alterations in the gene RET, was effective at shrinking tumours in patients with nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC), with a majority of patients living for more than a year without

Surgery vs. CyberKnife
Had another PET 9/1 and the tumor grew from 1/8-2.2cm in three months. The needle biopsy I had in June was 'inconclusive'. The thoracic surgeon I went to for a second opinion wants to take the top lobe of my right lung. I looked into CyberKnife and had a consult with a radiology oncologist. She said

Lung cancer risks becoming ‘forgotten disease’ of the coronavirus pandemic.
Of all cancer types, referrals for suspected lung cancer have been the hardest hit according to weekly two week wait (2ww) figures(link is external) in England. At the end of August, the number of people sent for urgent review and tests in England was still at only around 60% of pre lockdown figures.

New immunotherapy to beat cancer.
Sophie Lucas (UCLouvain de Duve Institute) and her team succeeded in neutralising a molecule that blocks the immune system against cancer. UCLouvain scientists discovered that this new immunotherapy increases the action of another well-known but not always effective immunotherapy, and that it makes tumour

Listing query for Lung Transplants England
Can I ask is there still a hold on listing in England, for Lung Transplants? I have been informed lately that the 'super urgent, and urgent' are now lifted and its business as usual, as we all had a window from Covid, bit perplexed as I know of a few patients who fit normal criteria, not yet listed

RethiNKing which immune cells are the best weapon against lung cancer.
Immune cells called ‘natural killer’ (NK) cells could be a powerful weapon for fighting lung cancer, according to Melbourne researchers. Studying preclinical and patient samples of small cell lung cancer (SCLC), the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute team revealed that NK cells – but not T cells – are essential
