tapered too fast
My 69 yr old husband has had PMR for about four years. We got down to 10mg Prednisone by tapering .25mg every two weeks. When I got to 10mg he was feeling ok so I started tapering faster, thinking that we could finally be done. When I got below 5mg I got really excited and tried to taper weekly by more

Pluvicto Supply
Hi All!Does anyone have any substantial information on Pluvicto supply in the U. S.? My husband stopped Prednisone & Jevtana February 5th in anticipation of 1st dose of Pluvicto. U of Michigan Oncology says he had a "remarkable" response to Jevtana and waiting without any treatment is okay. He's

Relapse vs flare
Hi, I have GPA. Two years ago I reached remission with rituximab prednisone and now on azathioprine. I've been feeling not quite right for a little and have bloods done every 4 weeks to keep an eye on me. I had a phonecall from my rheumatology nurse the other day saying my inflammatory markers are raised

Flare advice
I was down to .5 mg of Prednisolone and my brother died 4 days ago. I’ve had severely tender headache since. I know I can increase from advice given on this forum , and drop down to just above last dose a few days later, but how much should I increase by please. I forget although I’ve had previous flares

Upped my prednisone for knee inflammation and now I'm not sure how to reduce back to 1.5 mg.
You all have so much good advice on reducing prednisone which helped be to successfully reduce my dose to 1.5 mg, which I have been on for quite some time. (Many months, but reluctant to keep going as I was having other issues and didn't want to rock the boat further.). Recently my knee became swollen

Lack of understanding of PMR and prescribing Prednisolone
I’m posting this link (written by a PMR patient in the USA) mainly in response to JMT_hiker’s recent post. It is a story of mismanagement of PMR and medication due to lack of understanding of the disease and how Prednisolone works and consequences for the patient. Fortunately, the majority don’t and

Respitory referrals
Hi, could anyone tell me if I have to request a referral to see a respiratory consultant, I have not seen one so far, and I was diagnosed with COPD almost 10 years ago? I had a flare-up recently but did not know I was having one till I went to see my GP for something completely different and they told

Prednisolone
Hi Pnut, I was recently recovering from Covid which left me with a bad cough, and rather than antibiotics my GP prescribed Prednisolone and 5 day course of 6x5mg tablets once a day helped me almost immediately. I have had a similar dose in the past and it works great for me. I hope this is helpful to

Metformin
My husband is nearly 86. He is on 12mg of Prednisolone. Now he has been diagnosed with a blood sugar level of 7.9. He has been prescribed Metformin, and is very frightened , because of the possible side effects. Can anyone tell me if it always happens please?

Any advice gratefully recieved..Bronchiectasis exacerbation?
Good Morning all, just wanted to seek some help from those in the know ( albeit not medically trained). Mum is 94, started going downhill 8 weeks or so ago, tired, more short of breath than normal and sputum hard to clear and change of colour. Started her Co-amoxiclav but 8 days on no improvement so

Thank you all!
I want to thank everyone on this forum for all the knowledge and support that you give. My wonderful rheumy retired in March. Before I had met with my new one, I had an adrenal issue of feeling dizzy and so very exhausted due to way too much physical activity and an emotional time. I knew what to do

Reduction with Prednisone and shoulder pains
I have been reducing my prednisone by 1/2 mg every month. I am down to 1mg for the past week. I have been having problems sleeping at night. About half way through the night, both shoulders scream out in pain waking me up. I eventually fallback asleep and once I get up they feel much better. I also noticed

Out of date Prednisolone tablets
Following a cortisol test last week the result said "at 314nmol/l - making adrenal insufficiency highly unlikely". I have been on 1mg for about 4 months so now plan to drop to 1/2mg using the usual slow taper plan. I have quite a few unopened packets of pred of 5mg and 1mg tablets - mostly because

Started on 20mgs. of prednisolone nearly 8 years ago for PMR. Still unable to drop to 2mgs.
I have had a new rheumatologist for the last 18 months who on the first telephone consultation said that she was not concerned with me being on 2.5mgs. of prednisolone and that it was OK to stay below 5mgs. However over the last year she has now become hell bent on getting me off Pred. I would be

Hello I’m wondering if anyone can advise whether I should miss a week or two of methotrexate injections whist on a course of antibiotics? For background information I was diagnosed with GCA in April 2021, started on prednisolone 60mg reducing until I relapsed in July 2022. I’ve been reducing again
