Calcium absorption blockers
I was trying to add calcium to my diet, and came across a website that said certain foods block calcium absorption. When I saw that, I tried to find other websites that said the same thing, but I was hoping I wouldn't find that. Unfortunately, I did find quite a few websites that say spinach, beans

Let's Talk Kidney Issues
I had a stone removed from my right ureter 2 years ago; the preceding and subsequent CT scans showed stones in both kidneys. 6 months ago I went in for a follow up CT and found a stone completely blocking the left ureter (no pain). Surgeon removed the stone it but the kidney is only functioning at 18%

New to OP, Hormone for building bones
It was suggested that there is a hormone that helps to build bone. I am not talking about estrogen. Soon I will be 70 and that hormone has an increased risk of cancer. Is there another hormone for bone density? I have taken the recommended supplements, 1200 mg calcium and D3 along with the recommended

Hypercoagulability and Thrombosis Risk in Prostate Cancer: The Role of Thromboelastography
A new Canadian paper {1]. A soapbox paper, but one that resonates with me Many years ago now, I ended up in ER with a double DVT (deep vein thrombosis) in my left leg ; fortunately below the knee. My doctor wanted me on 3 months warfarin (as a first time offender) + 3 months extra for cancer. I asked

Ray Peat & Thyroid Wisdom
Hi all :) I've mentioned a few times on this forum that the Keto/carnivore diet is the reason for my devastating decline into overt hypothyroidism where I became unresponsive to synthetics. Since that time, I've used this forum as well as the teachings of American physiologist Ray Peat to educate myself

ADCal alternatives?
Hello everyone. Am prone to UTIs and don't like the ADCal tabs as they are grainy/gritty. I take a Soldar Vit D, but what dose is advisable, and what brand, type and dose of calcium does anyone advise please. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Help with great nieces blood work please.
I have to start this over. I messed this whole thing up. My niece has low white blood cell count, and some other low readings. I gave her the list of symptoms for B12 deficiency before she got all these blood tests done. She marked off just about every symptom on that B12 deficiency list. So I asked

Am I at risk of having too much calcium in my blood?
diagnosed Sept. 21 now tapered to 2 mg. in the summer I was informed that I would require some dental treatment, possibly an implant. After speaking to my dentist about the risks involved, as I was taking Alandronic acid, which I have always disliked taking, I decided for better or worse (and especially

Just diagnosed with Osteoporosis, rock and a hard place...
Do any of you have multiple conditions that make it difficult to treat OP? I have stage 3b chronic kidney disease, which means I have to limit my calcium and my protein. I also have chronic deep vein thrombosis for which I am on lifetime blood thinners. That means no food high in vitamin K. I'm also

Sensitivity to light, dry eyes and calcium deposits
My problem may seem light compared to some of those reported but it is having an enormous effect on my lifestyle. My eyes are so sensitive to light that I have to keep the blinds drawn in the house for most of the day, my lifetime habit of reading the morning paper can no longer be indulged in, reading

Taking a magnesium supplement - any dependencies with other drugs?
After some research I have decided to add a magnesium supplement, to hopefully help with the muscle weakness in my legs. I’ve now got the supplement, but am not certain whether I need to take my dose at a particular time of day for best effect, or not take it with any of my other drugs. The others I

blood tests and DXA scan
Following blood tests and a DXA scan I finally have results from the Endo. Re scan it states: T-scores have been reported as -1.3 at the left neck of fear and -1.9 at the lumbar spine. The calculated 10 years probability of a major osteoporotic fracture and that of a hip fracture is below intervention

Bone density and alendronic acid
I have PMR and take prednisolone for that, currently on 6mg daily. A GP I saw tried very hard to get me to take alendronic acid but I have silent reflux and find swallowing tablets difficult - they seem to get lodged in my oesophagus regardless of the quantity of water I drink with them. I pushed to
