Vitamin D3 prevents calcium-induced progression ...
Notably, administration of the active vitamin D metabolite
calcitriol
reversed all these effects. Silencing CaSR or TRPC6 expression in calcium-stimulated PC3 cells decreased cell proliferation and SOCE.

Foods/Supplements-Vitamins: Phosphorus
IMO, not only is there no need to supplement with phosphorus, but there is benefit (with PCa) in having depressed blood levels for part of the day, in order that PCa cells might be exposed to
calcitriol
.

Foods/Supplements-Vitamins: D - Calcitriol - human studies
A
calcitriol
blood test says nothing about
calcitriol
in the prostate. Normal epithelial cells can convert calcidiol (25-D) tp
calcitriol
(1,25-D). Two enzymes are used to control levels.

Foods/Supplements-Vitamins: D - Cholecalciferol/Calcidiol/Calcitriol - U-shaped Risk
The hormonal form,
calcitriol
[1α,25(OH)2D3], is produced from calcidiol, primarily by the kidneys, as needed. The main vitamin D blood test is for calcidiol, the inactive reservoir. What should the test result be?

Calcium Sensing Receptor [CaSR]
The conventional view on calcium in PCa is that it interferes with vitamin D conversion by the kidneys (calcidiol to
calcitriol
... aka 25(OH)D to 1,25(OH)D) that is essential if PCa is to be treated vith vitamin D. PCa cells lose the ability to do the conversion.

PTH also triggers the production of hormonal vitamin D - i.e. calcidiol is converted to
calcitriol
by the kidneys.
Calcitriol
causes an increase in calcium uptake from the gut, & subsequently, the process for replacing calcium taken from bone.

Vitamin D & J-/U-Shaped PCa Risk
Calcidiol is converted to
calcitriol
only as needed. Sure, the production of
calcitriol
triggers production of the enzyme that will ultimately clear it from the cell. But having more calcidiol outside does not mean that prostate cells will make more
calcitriol
inside.

Thyroid Med update
I was put on
Calcitriol
2 tablets daily and remained on 500mg calcium. This week Endo has reduced
Calcitriol
to one tablet & asked me to stop calcium until next weeks blood test. He wants calcium to be between 2.2 to 2.3.

Has anyone tried avocado oil for psoriasis?
Sorry, only tangentially related to thyroid (autoimmune) issues, but my psoriasis is spreading and on my face/hairline it looks very inflamed. I usually slap on a little steroid cream but it has such a short-lived effect. I have calcipotriol ointment too but it's so greasy I hate to use it near my hair

Safe Upper Limit of Vitamin D Identified for First Time from Medscape
However, "it appears that
calcitriol
intervenes in more than 100 different biological functions, and at present, we do not have sound biological evidence regarding the mode of operation of vitamin D and in particular the deleterious effect of high concentrations," they conclude.
