Vitamin D metabolite may stop mechanism by which cancer cells become drug-resistant
"The vitamin D metabolite and its analog cannot kill the naive cancer cells, but when those cells develop resistance,
calcitriol
and calcipotriol can kill them."

Hormonal Vitamin D & PCa Aggressiveness.
Calcitriol
is the active form. In PCa, cells have lost the ability to convert calcidiol to
calcitriol
. Calcium, phosphorus & phosphates can inhibit
calcitriol
production, whereas fructose can promote it.

Psychiatrist fired daughter as patient over thyroid! (Or maybe because of her pushy mom regarding thyroid...)
likes to test this too (no rT3) TPO 11 (0-26) - note other antibodies previously tested as negative also Other items: Serum B12 816 (232-1245) - integrative doctor has started her on supplements after this test Folate 7.0 (>3.0) - integrative doctor has started her on a B-complex after this result

Vitamin D Supplementation in PCa: A Systematic Review of Randomized Control Trials.
Calcitriol
supplementation in doses ranging from 250-1000 mg for 3-8 weeks or a lower dose of 45 mg for 18.3 months, appear most beneficial regarding outcomes of PC progression and survival." Note.
Calcitriol
is the active hormonal form of vitamin D [1,25-D].

Vitamin D - Latitude / Calcitriol
PCa cells inhibit production of the enzyme that converts calcidiol to
calcitriol
, & up-regulates the enzyme that breaks down
calcitriol
. If the cancer doesn't want
calcitriol
around, one must suppose that it has an anti-cancer role.

Hormonal Vitamin D & PCa Proliferation Rate.
This is the commonly measured vitamin D reservoir. b) serum 1,25 dihydroxyvitamin D [1,25-D ...
calcitriol
]. Hormonal (active) vitamin D. Reflects kidney conversion from 25-D in response to a drop in circulating calcium. Levels vary throughout the day.

Xgeva / calcium & vitamin D.
New anecdotal paper. Part of my wife's treatment for solitary plasmacytoma is Xgeva every 3 months. She was told to use a calcium supplement, & the oncologist regularly monitors blood levels. It's common knowledge these days that calcium alone does not guarantee bone health, & that vitamin D is needed

Prompted by the Nalakrats / Tall_Allen Debate.
Perhaps more impressive has been the smart money effort to find a
calcitriol
analog (715 hits).
Calcitriol
(1,25-D) is the active form of vitamin D. Calcidiol (25,D) is the inactive reservoir. Cholecalciferol is the natural supplement & it gets converted to calcidiol.

A "Novel" CRPC Mechanism.
It has been understood for quite a while that in normal prostate cells, there is an enzyme that acts on calcidiol (inactive vitamin D) to form
calcitriol
(hormonal vitamin D), & that the presence of
calcitriol
will stimulate the expression of a second enzyme to metabolize & clear

Both
calcitriol
and genistein are relatively safe and have little toxicity associated with their intake.

Vitamin D and its Many Effects in People with PD
The vitamin D signaling pathway teaches us that vitamin D is converted to 25(OH)D in the liver and that 25(OH)D is circulated around the body and absorbed into cells where the cells transform 25(OH)D into a steroid hormone,
calcitriol
, which helps regulate gene transcription.

VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY AND CHRONIC WIDESPREAD PAIN
vitamin D enters circulation in its biologically inactive form, which can be stored in the fat tissue or released upon demand.17 Vitamin D is transported by vitamin D-binding protein in the circulation and converted to 25-OH D by 25-hydroxylase in the liver and then to the active form 1,25-(OH)2D (

calcitriol & kidney disease
Following my blood test WHY don't GP never talk about kidney disease. Everyone thinks mild kidney disease is nothing to worry about. That might be the case but given my latest virus ass dysfunction I would beg to differ. Anyway following blood test my Kidney GFR was 90 NOW my issue is hows that work

Hyperparathyroidism in PCa.
The kidneys respond to PTH by converting calcidiol (25-D) to
calcitriol
(1,25-D) - i.e. creating hormonal vitamin D.
Calcitriol
is involved in drawing dietary calcium from the gut, & ultimately, replacing calcium initially taken from bone to restore blood levels.

This requires hormonal vitamin D -
calcitriol
(1,25-D). Normal prostatic cells have a need for
calcitriol
& can produce it from circulating calcidiol (25-D).

New study finds topical calcipotriol, a derivative of activated vitamin D, helps manage hair loss
A pilot study published in the journal Dermatologic Therapy suggests that topical calcipotriol, a derivative of active vitamin D, may be an alternative treatment for alopecia areata (AA). AA is a type of hair loss that results from the immune system mistakenly attacking hair follicles, which is where

Prostate Cancer & Hormones - Estrogen [1] - (& Androgen Ratio)
While it is useful to focus on individual hormones, there are hormones that work together (such as hormonal vitamin D [
calcitriol
] & testosterone [T] in the prostate, via the VDR & AR receptors), & hormones that pull in different directions via their receptors.

Calcitriol (Rocaltrol) + Vit. D3 = TOXICITY!
Through all the research I learned (I think I knew, but forgot) that
Calcitriol
is a form of Vitamin D (like 2 steps down the conversion chain when it reaches the kidneys), I was reminded that D is fat-soluble, I was refreshed on the fact that you are NOT supposed to take Vitamin D when taking
