For those of you still looking for a solution for depression that doesn't increase your RLS symptoms you may want to give Auvelity a try. It's one of the newest medications out there. It's a combination medication with the active ingredients of dextromethorphan and bupropion. You can actually get dextromethorphan off the shelf at any pharmacy as it is a common cough suppressant but has a short half life. It's often mixed with decongestants so you want to avoid those. If you can find it you can give it a try to see if it effects your RLS before you proceed further. You can also probably get a two week free trial sample from your psychiatrist. Not sure if GPs will have them. I am in the US by the way so not sure of the availability in the UK.
Bupropion is added to Auvelity as it blocks the enzymes that break down the dextromethorphan making it last longer.
Wellbutrin is the brand name for bupropion and has been around for a while as a stand alone treatment for depression that is tolerated well by most of those who also suffer RLS.
Dextromethorphan effects the NMDA neurotransmitters instead of serotonin making it a novel mechanism of action for depression.
