I Need a New Drug

Isn’t that an 80s song? Hmm.

Having some issues from bp meds. I don’t know enough about them. I’m on Candesartan 32mg 1xDay; Metoprolol 200mg XL 2XDay; it’s STILL too high so the third drug is the one we are trying to replace.

I did fine on Doxazosin 2mg, 1XDay, for 4 weeks. Then, we decided (my PCP and I) to double the dose to 4mg, 1XDay. That one pill knocked me out for two days of sleep. I didn’t take any more. Still haven’t. Third day, I woke up with vertigo. I’m still shaking extreme weakness, tirednesss, and lingering dizzy moments when I move my head. It’s like fibro fog times ten. Can’t do anything requiring thinking.

So, I need a new drug again ack. Maybe Losartan which my mom hasn’t reacted to (a good sign for me as we have many of the same sensitivities) and it isn’t known to be harmful to kidneys.

Prior to Doxazosin, I tried Nifedipine but there was no lowering of the bp.

My bp is being raised by taking Budesonide, a steroid medication that I’ve been on for a year for what we’re calling Colitis like diarrhea. I won’t stop taking it and it has less of a steroid effect (which is essential because I also have lifelong Cushing’s Syndrome from steroids—no working adrenal).

So it’s about as complicated as it gets. I am not prone to dizzyness, etc. None of my specialists will touch my bp. Thank God for my pcp, but he’s leaving in February, so I’d really like a working new bp drug beforehand.

I know I’m not alone…right?!

metropolol is a kidney killer.. i was on it for ten plus years and thats what did my kidneys in.that and losartan.have you tried a low dose amilodipine or carvedilol?

How about consulting with a cardiologist? Thst sounds like a huge dosage of Metoprolol. It's a beta blocker that i think is usually only added to the main BP medicine. I only take 25 twice a day. Sorry, you're having such complicated problems. Best of luck in getting it straightened out.
