Acinetobacter Junii

At my bronchoscopy they found a " moderate growth of a bug called Acinetobacter Junii". Rather puzzled, as they said this is 'usually caused by contamination'. My question being, what if it WASN'T caused by contamination, but is in my lungs??!

Has anybody else any experience with this bug? Did you receive treatment for it?

My total Ige levels have also risen steeply since 2021 (from 100 to 366) and it was FINALLY confirmed that I AM sensitive to Aspergillus.

having recently completed my house move to Northumberland, I am waiting for my Respiratory care to be transferred here.

The consultant who interpreted my latest CT scan said they 'couldn't see evidence of bronchiectasis'. But my old consultant, on the scan from 2021, said it was most definitely present. I give up, why be so confusing????!!! My symptoms are now so much worse than in 2021.

Anyway, need another CT scan in next few weeks to monitor the nodule they found in my right lung, so we will see !

Sorry for minor rant, but these contradictory findings are messing with my head!

xxxxx

Check your home for Black Mould!

thanks Lutontown. My old house in Wales used to have occasional mould issues. My new house is brand new, no mould anywhere! Good extractor fans, trickle vents in the windows, plaster has all completely dried out. Hard vinyl flooring downstairs too, so less places for the dustmites to lurk. I have set up my air filter in the lounge too.

The farmland locally is mostly grain crops, in my area of Wales it was animal grazing land. So have noticed a new sneezy type reaction when out walking - probably a brand new allergen challenging my adorably over-reactive lungs!

Perhaps you'll inform this forum how you progress in your new home, i.e. problems gone away, new ones arrived, as time goes on.

Hi. I will update how the NHS deals with me here compared to Wales. I have regular seasonal variations in my symptoms anyway, September & October being grim for many, many years now. It is drier and cooler climate up here in the NE , the heat and humidity where I was before used to knock me flat.

Don't you just love how we are told not to use the Internet but medics get on there to look at how to do anything

Ah but they've had 6+ years of training over our lifetimes of experience.

its just so unsettling and confusing!! My old consultant was adamant that it was on my scan. He retired, which is why I ended up seeing a new one,.....after a two years wait!!!

Surely it is either THERE or NOT.

one of my friends now thinks I have been lying about my condition, which is even more upsetting.
