Many thanks for all your messages. I think that I probably didn't explain very well as i was feeling a bit rough when i messaged. I do speak by telephone to my Consultant once a year and have recently had a CT scan and Lung function tests. Have had to wait nearly 2 years for LFT as our local hosp had no respiratory physiologists. One thing that i have never had and would not now agree to is a Brochoscopy or Lung wash i believe some DRs call it. I am lucky enough not to have a cough and i know from other sufferers how debilitating the cough is. As a Bronchoscopy can have no treatment value i would always decline for fear of initiating the cough. Having been a Nurse for many years i have nursed the occasional patient with IPF although it was called Fibrosing Alveolitis in my time of Nursing. Thank you all for taking the time to reply and i wish you all the very best with your own struggles.

I wouldn’t have a bronchoscopy either, too much risk of damage or infection. Some consultants are keener on them than others - thankfully mine isn’t

I agree. I was offered but declined as felt risks outweighed the benefits at the time. I may add I am immunocompromised too.
