Questions on starting decapeptyl post ovarian cyst removal due to severe endo

Hi all - apologies for the long read but I really need some advice!!

I had my fallopian tubes removed last year end of Aug 24 & got diagnosed with endo at the same time - they also found a small 2-3 cm cyst on my left ovary which the surgeon drained to preserve fertility as I wanted to be doing IVF but needed to get my BMI down.

Right ovary was fine no issue. my cycles shortened & become regular - only issue was I kept having bowel issues - difficulty having a bowel movement without taking something.

The abdominal pain got significantly worse at the start of this year and I ended up in hospital as I'd been throwing up bile etc - thought I had a bowel obstruction or something similar.

NOPE. turns out I had a massive 8-10 cm cyst on my RIGHT ovary which had just come out of nowhere - even my surgeon who'd done the prev surgery was surprised at how fast this had grown in just 4 months.

After a long 7 months from when I went for my first IVF appt I finally got my BMI down enough to get on the ivf waiting list which is about a year currently. I turn 40 by the end of the month. Now my surgeon is suggesting I take this injection to basically stop another cyst growing esp given how quickly it happened last time and how severe the endo is.

From what I've read the injection does cause weight gain and it can take some time for the ovaries to wake up again! Given I'm working with a stacked deck already (age 40 - going to be, have endometriosis, PCOS and IBS) and took a while to drop the weight - any and all advice from folk who've taken the injection to help with endometriosis and how it made you feel would be helpful.

Should I take the 1 month / 3 month one? What hrt can I take with it to avoid the not fun menopause symptoms - how do I avoid the weight gain - that's the one I'm most worried about.

Any questions ppl think I should ask docs would be helpful too.

You are certainly having a hard time ! Hope you have people around you for support For added support please take a look at our website fertilitynetworkuk.org Access Support You can access Regional support + UK-Wide support ,might find closed Facebook group "40 and over Fertility Group " helpful Sometimes there may be weight gain while on the injections but hopefully diet and exercise can keep this in check Might be idea to discuss your other concerns with your clinic as they know your history etc - may help you to make a more informed choice going forward
