Niacin helps Raynaud's Syndrome
Dear Everyone, Raynaud's is scary and confusing. I have learned the safest way to treat it is with Niacin, 500 mgs., about every four hours during cold weather. It causes a flush, meaning, as it opens your blood vessels, you feel warmth and may be reddish in color. Not all Niacin causes a flush, so

Aftermath of meningitis in children
Hello, I am new to this post and am beyond concerned for my 6 year old son. He had bacterial meningitis when he was 3 months old. DBS Surgery
It has been one month since my DBS surgery - time for an update. I am now "in charge" of my regulator. This means that my neuro showed me how to change the amount of voltage is sent to each side of my brain. This allows me to increase or decrease depending on my symptoms. I was encouraged to substitute

My upcoming surgery
I'm scheduled for head surgery February 6, 2018. I have a neurosurgeon & a maxillofacial surgeon working on me. The neurosurgeon recommended the other surgeon- seems like he's helping a younger surgeon get grounded. Tried to sell me on him, saying he could touch me up. The newer guy says he doesn't want

Please can anyone advise.....
I'm guilty of not being on the site for some time, as I have not been great really, so apologies for not being around. I'm concerned today because even though the endocrinologist I last saw wanted me on Naturthroid, today I had a medication review with some pharmacy practitioner or similar. He knew nothing

Bad joint pain that started after my viral meningitis
I am new here! I have had viral meningitis in June 2016. I remember having a huge headache that would not go away and got worse. I went to urgent care and they kept me for about 6 hours just to tell me that I have a kidney infection. My kidneys didn't hurt. I told my husband that I will be going to the

MRI Result. All clear.
I was worried. Noticed a lot of mistakes as I type. All sorts of minor things. Surely I was developing ALD. But no. I am in the clear. See the pic? On the right is last year. Plenty of bright areas on account of the contrast medium. On the left is today. Clean as a whistle. Panic over (for another

Cholesterol Advisory Board in U.S. Tied to Statin Manufacturers
There's an old saying - 'the fish stinks from the head down'. Here's a link to an article which itself contains evidence supporting its finding - that those who are responsible for establishing the cholesterol guidelines in the United States are receiving compensation from statin manufacturers. https

DBS Surgery
I have had several requests to update my status since my surgery on December 15. I will be going to the doctor to adjust my voltage on Tuesday and would like to defer until then. My neuro advises that it takes 3 weeks for the full impact of each adjustment to take place. The amount of meds I need

DBS Surgery “Awake or Asleep” that is the question?
Ive had it with dealing with the symptoms of this disease and I’m looking for some relief and maybe some normalcy at least for awhile, so I’ve decided to explore DBS. I have a consultation on 1/26 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston to evaluate if I’m a candidate or not. I’ve heard from many on

Would a brain tumour cause fluid build up in ears and neck pressure?
Is having fluid in your ears normally a sign of a infection rather then a Brian tumour that's causing my hearing problems? Would a Brian tumour cause fluid build up? I'm just wondering as the ringing in my ears is unbearable and i'm having pressure in my neck, I always feel like I have to rest my hand
