Liver Transplant - Survivors Guilt and Depression
Back in 2018, University of Cambridge Professor Edward Bullmore published his book, “The Inflamed Mind” a radical new approach into the understanding of depression. This concept may sound a little deep for some people. But please try and bear with me. What Prof Edward has discovered is a link between

Yesterday I received an email from Caspiana advising that she had received "That Call" from the hospital, telling her to come in as they had a lung for her. Alcohol - Minimum unit pricing Wales.
Here is a completely new thread about minimal pricing of alcohol, within Great Britain. As you’ll all be aware, back in May 2018 Scotland introduced minimum pricing of alcohol. I have pointed out on this site before, how this was (in my opinion) a missed opportunity. Had this extra pricing been introduced

Open Culture has a course that starts today for medical people going into transplanting. I signed up. It's free. It appears to be videos; before, during, after. I went to 'Open Culture' , was cruising through "courses" and came across it. thought others could be interested. https://www.coursera.org

Attended 'The 5000th Liver Transplant at QE' celebration in Birmingham and a wonderful nurse came up to me who I recognised, 'Yokai'. This wonderful lady looked after my family and myself during the time I arrived at the QE at 2pm on 5th Oct 2016 up to the time I was wheeled into theatre at 2.10am early

Six pack after transplant- possible? :)
Hi guys, I hope you are doing well. I have a bit of a random question but want to see what your opinion is. I am very grateful to have received a liver transplant over one year ago now. Due to the nature of my operation I was left (intentionally) with an incisional hernia which I am hoping will be repaired

Transplant Prep!
Hi Everyone! I am happy to announce that I will be receiving a kidney transplant on July 29th thanks to an amazing living donor. Just confirmed today! I wanted to ask two questions: 1) What should I remember to bring for my hospital stay to make it more comfortable? 2) What are things you wish you

IS CHRONIC CIRROSIS A DEATH SENTENCE?
Forum members, My son who is 34 is in hospital with this condition. He has been an alcohol abuser for many years, and this is his first admittance to hospital. If his liver cannot recover or repair itself, and without having a liver transplant, is there no hope for our sons recovery? Worried Woollid

As of yesterday..I’m on the national registry!
I’ve been absent from the forum for a while due to illness. A month after I lost my husband, I ended up in the ICU. My H and H was 6 and 19 I think. I was bleeding from my esophageal varicies. They identified the bleed and tied them off. My liver was close to not functioning at all, and because of the

Anxious about liver fibroscan results!
I have had fatty liver disease and now NASH (presumably). I have had 3 fibroscans 6 months apart and I'm now Stage 3 Fibrosis. kPa was 5.4, then 7.5 and now 11.4. CAP was 328, 306, and now 216. I am scared out of my mind. I just retired, and I feel like I'm going to drop dead in a year now. I'm not ready
