Do you know when you're having afib?
I had afib for six months before an ablation in November 2016. In October I'd started using a CPAP machine. I also have a Pacemaker for bradycardia; it keeps track of any afib episodes, and I've had none since the ablation. The question is whether I should stay on the Xeralto, blood thinner to counter

Felling frustrated after a wobble
Good morning everyone, I hope your having a nice Sunday. I was feeling really well yesterday and as the weather was fresher decided to go for a walk to my local small supermarket. The walk has a couple of inclines but have managed these 'no bother' in the past, However yesterday I suddenly felt as though

Permanent a fib
Hi all. I met with my cardiologist this week and he confirmed I have enlarged heart and permanent a fib. I have been feeling quite good over past couple of weeks because I have not had the terrible nausea and sicky feeling I was getting on most of my meds. As I do not have any furring of the arteries

Metoprolol
Hello everyone, I am feeling rather low and not very well. I have to take Ciprofloxacin antibiotic for a chest infection which has pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria in my lungs. I can’t take Flecainide as my pill in the pocket if I have an AF episode. The doctor has told me to take 25mgs of metoprolol

Pacemaker & daily meds for AFib, what can I expect?
I am interested to hear from anyone with experience about having a pacemaker installed and then daily AFib medications - I think I will be given something called Flecainide. As my HR falls into the 30's and 40's I can't take anything daily, the pacemaker will address that. Right now I have AFib attacks

BLOOD PRESSURE TOO LOW but HEART RATE TOO HIGH - SHOULD I TAKE BISOPROLOL or NOT?
Hi kind people, I hope someone is able to suggest, or at least share their own experience about the problem I’m having right now. Some background. Like I said in my previous post - I am 73 year old woman. I was diagnosed with paroxysmal Afib about 18 months ago. Afib episodes have become very frequent

Is it safe to have a couple of glasses of wine?
Hi everyone, I was diagnosed last year with Afib, my highest reading being 170 beats per minute. I am on Bisoprolol and Apixaban, which so far have kept me well controlled. I have never been a big drinker and haven't touched a drop since diagnosis. My question is, would it be safe to have a couple of

Ablation and asymptomatic/persistent AFIB
I am 65 year old physically active male. I have had persistent AFIB for 10 months and the only impact to my lifestyle is the inability to cycle at the previous pace - a state I have come to terms with. I have had two unsuccessful cardioconversions. My doctor says I have two options 1. Remain on Metoprolol

Engine "hunts at idle"
This is an auto mechanic's term that I know because my brother is an auto mechanic. But it feels like what my heart is doing lately. It's not the wildly erratic and uncountable rhythm of Afib (which I have also experienced and been diagnosed with). But listening to my heart with a stethoscope, I hear

AF and Pancreatic lesions increase need for anticoaggulants
Hi all I’m to have my second ablation procedure next month due to recurring SVT and longer bouts of AF. My new Kardia 6l arrived just in time to provide proof to my EP! My worry is I may also need to have part of my pancreas removed due to slow growth of suspect lesions and a family history of cancer

Stroke, covid 19 and AF talk.
Our support group, Surrey ASG, has switched to online (Zoom!) meetings. Dr Puneet Kakur, Lead stroke consultant at Epsom St Helier, will talk to the above title on July 1st at 5pm. He is a very good speaker and we will then have Dr Abhay Bajpai, Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist and Stephanie

Anybody been to see Dr Saagar Mahida?
Just as it says above - anybody been treated or had a consultation with Dr Mahida? I'm getting desperate and I've waited almost 3 months to hear about my rearranged 7-day tape (I know it will have been delayed due to the pandemic) but I feel like I need a fresh start under a better cardiologist. WHAT ARE YOUR AFIB TRIGGERS?
Hi ALL, I would like to hear from you guys about your Atrial Fibrillation Triggers. My afib triggers are as follows: Most (if not all) of my Afib Episodes start at rest, after meals, and/or during sleep, or very early in the morning - that is just before I get out of the bed - especially when my heart

Plummeting leukocytes
Greetings from Paris, I've been on Venetoclax for a year and a half just 2 pills half the usual dose) and I've been feeling great if a little tired, but there again I've just turned 70 and expect to remain as hyperactive as I've always been. With the treatment, leuckocytes went down to about 2500 but

Bisoprolol alternative
I have a new diagnosis for Atrial Flutter with AF and am struggling to get it under control. Having multiple episodes of flutter daily and some AFib episodes lasting in excess of 12hours. Finding it all exhausting. I’ve been on High dose of Bisoprolol which I don’t think is working, I’ve been offered

Arrhythmia after ablation
I had an ablation for atrial flutter in early April, which got rid of the unpleasant symptoms, but every two weeks I've been getting several hours of slow AF, and this week I've had it twice. I'm really anxious because my partner is in hospital having radical surgery, and I can't visit him, which

Surrey Arrhythmia Support Group - Pilot "virtual" meeting.....
I’m sure everyone will be pleased to hear that the recent “pilot” Surrey ASG meeting was very successful. More than 30 guests were able to watch and listen to Dr Abhay Bajpai, an EP at St George’s Hospital and Stephanie Cruickshank, a Specialist Arrhythmia Nurse from Epsom and St Helier Hospitals, answer

Afib only in late afternoon
To give a little medical history first, I was born 2 months early and had a murmur that never closed up. Until I was injured at work at the age of 36 and had to take a lot of pain killers etc I never had any heart problems. Age 39 I had an ASD surgery to have the hole closed up. Again I was good
