Heart in constant a fibrillation, help advice
My husband had cardiac arrest on 3/5. After cpr and being shocked 2x his heart began again. He had a catheterization done in the hospital and a defibrillator put in the next day. He has no heart blockages. They cannot find what or location creating his continued a fib. So ablation is not an option

Anticoagulation PIP
I missed the earlier discussion on pip for anticoagulation too. I was advised 20 years ago to take warfarin but as my afib episodes are once twice a year I felt I was too young. I asked my GP last month if I could try Apixaban as PIP as I’ve had 3 episodes during lockdown all lasting 5/6 days - he said

Exercising and flecainide
Hello fellow afibbers. I'm new to the forum and have found it really interesting to read the wide range of experience on here. I've had paf for about 5 years now, and went onto 200mg flecainide per day in December as things had progressed to an intolerable degree; lots of ectopics everyday, and frequent

Amiodarone and a fib/ ectopics
Hello, I’m new to posting here having been diagnosed with paroxysmal a fib about a month ago. I’ve been put on amiodarone because I have a heart rate that goes quite low and the cardiologist felt beta blockers were out of the question. It’s not just the a fib I was suffering with - I was having almost

Does Afib cause Strokes or not?
I watched a video by Dr Sanjay Gupta in which he theorised that it does not and then quoted various research to the contrary and pointed out that anti-coagulants are prescribed only if you have the standard risk factors for stroke, independent of your Afib. Is this a widely held view? Thanks for any

5 Books That Have Helped Me
Here are 5 books that have helped me navigate my way through afib as a “lifestyler”, as I manage and reduce (and hopefully someday eliminate) my afib through lifestyle changes. There are of course many other books and resources out there for us. I hope other people here will add their own favorites.

A question about diltiazem.
It is 4 am here in the US. I went into AFIB about 3am. Pulse ranges from 60 bpm to 126bpm. I took 50 mg flecainide at 3 am. Cardiologist said to take that if my heart rate was over 100 bpm. I take 120 mg of diltiazem every morning at 8 am. Do you know if 120 mg is as much as you should take in

Calcitonin a cure for A.F.

AFib, exercise and meds
I was diagnosed with symptomatic persistent AF about 18 months ago. I had one cardio version but only stayed in NSR for 24 hours. After a decline and short stay in hospital, I was put on bisoprolol and amiodarone which has kept me in sinus rhythm for the last year with only a couple of minor AF episodes

Anti-arrhythmic drugs after ablation
I have had 3 ablations. Ten months post third ablation, I tried to stop, cold turkey, Propafenone 300mg x 2. I lasted 6 days before going back into AF for 4 1/2 hours. Recently at one year and ten months, I tried to wean (not cold turkey this time) myself off now a lower dose, Propafenone 150 x 2

More ectopics!
So I had bad run of ectopics that started a couple of years ago... got everything checked countless times... ECG monitors, 24hr tape etc and even an ultrasound. Confirmed ectopics but was told they’re harmless. They’ve started up again and feeling loads every day and still making me feel very anxious

Permanent Afib and alcohol
I’m in permanent Afib and don’t appear to have any food or drink triggers that I know of making my symptoms worse. Once lockdown eases and I’m allowed friends in the garden to visit for a few drinks, how much can I safely drink in one nigh? I usually have lower alcohol wine. I want to enjoy life

AF and Autoimmune disease, hypothyroidism
What came first, the chicken or the egg? Anyone else have similar underlying conditions? Two and a half weeks ago I had first ablation. I stayed in sinus rhythm for 11 days and back in a fib. Had a cardio version and hope to stay in NSR. Have been researching a lot about underactive thyroid, (or

Has anyone experienced Afib/Ecoptics when you're watching something intense like an action movie or speaking about something with emotion?
I notice that my Afib or ectopics always happen not when i'm exercising or active but when I'm sitting down and thinking, watching something or talkin to someone with "emotional intensity" plus I'm very tired. I guess that could be the triggers then right? Like high tide emotional intensity which causes

Rate control strategy
Does anyone just take a fast acting metoprolol or Diltiazam when they go into AFIB, vs. taking a slow release 24 hour dose every single day. It almost seems my AFIB comes on easier when my heart rate and blood pressure is in the low range. Thanks!
