Looking for a silver lining!
Hi, I have a whopping great thoracoabdominal
aortic
aneurysm
(TAAA) on which I'll be having surgery in 3 - 6 month's time. Not a pleasant prospect to say the least. Would be very glad to hear from anybody out there who's had a similar op.

1st rheumy update
Rheumy thoroughly explained gca, possible prednisone effects, other risks and, said, "if you get to feeling better in 2, 3, 5 years you very well may have an
aortic
aneurysm
. " Said you can't exercise this away, or mind over matter it away.

Gca RX risk benefit
Dr said if you get thru 2, 3 or 5 years & start feeling better, you have very high risk of
aortic
aneurysm
. For me, the treatment may be worse than trying to live untreated. I've had this for quite awhile. I'm not depressed but am sad that this is the way things are going.

Bicuspid valve and aortic aneurysm
Recently diagnosed with
aortic
aneurysm
and discovered my
aortic
valve is calcified and bicuspid. I am measuring just over 4 cm and consultants dont seem all that concerned other than the fact I am dicing with death every time I pick up a heavy barbell.

Hospice. What to expect?
My father has stage 4 pc with mets and a newly diagnosed
aortic
dissection with
aneurysm
in abdomen. The dr told us he has 6 months. What is expected from hospice? So far my mom and I are not convinced this is the right choice by our current hospice company.

How my AVR is going so far - two-month follow-up
But I no longer (for almost the first time I can remember) have
aortic

aortic

. I am now longer carrying round like a dark cloud the prospect of (first "one day" and latterly "looming") open heart surgery, as I have been since at least my teens.

Thoracic/ascending aortic aneurysms
Seems to be an advocacy and information gap for people like me, diagnosed with an ascending
aortic
aneurysm
(4.5cm in my case) without other symptoms, and without Marfan syndrome. There's a Marfan support group, and there's an Aortic Dissection support group.

Hi all I had my
aortic
valve replaced and my
aortic
arch repaired due to
aneurysm
, in December 2016. Did loads of research and decided, as I was only 55, to have a mechanical valve. The one big mistake I made was not researching warfarin!

Newbie looking for advice
I'm a 24 year old female, I found out in August of this year that I had 3 heart conditions; congenital heart disease,
aortic
aneurysm
and
aortic
valve disease . None of which I had any idea of, and even to this point I'm still not 100% accepting what I was told as I found out this late on.
