An aortic aneurysm, what tests are available?

Without any warning "An aortic aneurysm" can happen to any one at any time!

Any one on this site know of any private testing?

Lifeline.com does private testing for this. It is simple and similar to a scan.

They come to our area several times per year. I have always paid out of pocket as I am not sure if they take insurance.

I would also ask your PCP to order the screening- a thought.

My dad was lucky as his was caught in time and the area replaced with a graft. It is linked to smoking and possibly genetics ( this was being researched at the time)

It appears that I need a GP referral for this test and it can only be done at a hospital therefore small health screening people are unable to do this test in UK. I will ask my GP for referral to a NHS hospital to get this test done free.

Why do I want to do this test?

When lifting garden rubbish in a bucket, to put it into a garden waste big bin I fleet something expanded or dropped in my heart area, few minutes of pain but has been OK so far!!!!

Hmm. Have you seen your GP about this?

My dad had an abdominal aortic aneurysm in his early 70's. He had continued back pain which was initiated when he was working in the garden, an x-ray spotted the enlargement in the aorta.

Yes, this can develop with little to no warning, but best see your GP and go from there.

When i got to 65 the NHS sent me an appointment for a Aneurism scan. I attended. And pronounced fine. So free on NHS at 65.
