Intrinsic Factor and Parietel cells been refused b12
My results came back negative (although they wouldn't let me have the ref ranges again) and so the GP surgery won't let me have b12 injections despite having two low readings. Is this right? I have an appointment with a consultant Haematologist tomorrow at 1pm and any advice anyone can give me would

Confused and upset
Had a hospital visit yesterday with my rheumy nurse, has now been 4 weeks since starting the mtx. I have been struggling again with pain and stiffness in both knees but more so the left one as usual. Have previously had a steroid injection in this one which did help for a few months but has worn off

Breathless + high heart rate.
Been having high heart rate along with breathlessness and tightness in chest. Had docs appt this morn and mentioned my last TSH was 2.79 and that it needs to be 1 or just below. Asked for an increase but refused as he thought it might push me overactive and doesnt think these symptoms are related to

Advice for next consultant visit
I was referred to an endocrinologist 5 months ago due to a range of issues including extreme tiredness and neurological symptoms. Blood tests hadn't shown anything conclusive other than that my B12 was at 165 and I was also low in vit D, however my GP said these were not low enough to require treatment

Vitamin B 12 low
Hi all, I am after some advice. I went to the GP's a few weeks ago and asked them to run some bloods as I was finding I was having to sleep for 8-10 hours a night and I was still exhausted the next day. At weekends I find I have to cat nap just to get through the day. I am also suffering from dizziness

Active B12 Test
Hello I recently posted my Serum B12 and Folate results and some people on the Thyroid Uk site commented that my B12 should be higher, as indeed the laboratory report (I have Hashimoto's). I had an active B12 result that I am posting below - I presume that this is an ok result but would welcome your

to inject or not to inject?
Hi guys, could you answer a question for me please? I have zero intrinsic factor and am receiving my B12 injections on an 8 week cycle, not enough so am looking towards self injecting at some stage fairly soon, if I can't persuade my GP to be more accomodating. I have read conflicting advice, that sublingual

Intrinsic Factor Antibody Test - What a Mess!
Okay, so we already know that the IFA test is only 50% reliable. That means it will only pick up 50% of people who have the antibodies. Anybody else can go jump in a lake. Now we have this: "Do not order intrinsic factor blocking antibody (IFBA) testing in patients who have received a vitamin B12 injection

Will supplementing before tests for gastric parietal cell and intrinsic factor antibodies affect the result?
i suspect that I may have low stomach acid for various reasons; previous B12 tests have shown low-normal levels. I have been supplementing with 1000mcg sublingual tablets a day and have seen an improvement. My GP is amenable to testing for gastric parietal cell and intrinsic factor antibodies. Should

VITAMIN B12
Here is a short explanation of the mechanism by which the normal body acquires this important substance. It will be apparent that with our drastically cut-down stomach tissue this process can be impaired, resulting in the need for supplementation by oral &/or injectable routes. There is the possibility
