Will supplementing before tests for gastric parietal cell and intrinsic factor antibodies affect the result?

i suspect that I may have low stomach acid for various reasons; previous B12 tests have shown low-normal levels. I have been supplementing with 1000mcg sublingual tablets a day and have seen an improvement.

My GP is amenable to testing for gastric parietal cell and intrinsic factor antibodies. Should I stop taking my B12 tablets before testing? Would the results be affected by taking them close to the test?

Many thanks

Jo

I believe its best to have at least 5 days clear of B12 supplementing before having IF abs test, not sure about gastric parietal cell antibodies.

Thanks, Marre. I'll lay off the tablets until the other side of the weekend to make sure.
