TSH reduced but still high levels of inflammation

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could offer insight into my recent results?I received these results today and have an appointment to speak to her next week.

Currently on 100mg thyroxine now but although my TSH levels have reduced, symptoms of fatigue, aches and pains etc seem to be worse than ever and CRP is a bit higher than it was in summer. I spoke to a different GP recently who ran the following tests to see what might be causing me to still feel so unwell.

I know my iron levels have come back low, they always do as I'm unable to take iron tablets so I expect to be called in for an iron infusion after this.

I'm also taking B12 and vit D.

Thank you in advance

TSH 1.95 mU/L (0.27-4.20mU/L)

CRP 9 (<5.00mg/L)

Erythrocyte sedimentation rate 24 mm/h (0.00-20.00mm/h)

Serum iron level 6 umol/L (10.00-30.00umol/L)Other

I don't know why but there's no T4 result in my print out. Will have to check with her next week.

Other tests completed:

Rheumatoid factor <10.0 IU/ml (0.00-14.00IU/ml)

Serum folate 13ug/L (>3.00ug/l)

Serum vitamin B12 610ng/L (180.00-900.00ng/L)

HbA1c 37 nmol/mol (<48.00mmol/mol)

Serum electrolytes were also tested and came back normal and also a liver function test came back normal.

With a TSH of 1.95 you definitely haven't reached your optimal dose yet and need a 25mcg Levo increase. No wonder you have aches, pains and fatigue.

Most people feel well when their TSH is around or below 1.

In future you will need to get private bloods to show FT3 as this is what your symptoms will depend on and NHS doesn't test it.

TSH 3 .21 (0.27-4.20)

Free T4 16.0 (12.0-22.0)

Free T3 5.12 (3.1-6.8)

Anti-thyroidperoxidase abs 584 (<34)

Anti-thyroglobulin abs 194 (<115)

Vitamin D (25OH)4 2 (optimal 75-200)

Vitamin B12 275 (145-569)

previous results from 3 months ago

B12 much improved

You need vitamin D retested

Iron obviously terrible

Have you significantly increased iron rich foods in your diet?

Red meat every day. Liver or liver pate once a week. Black pudding…. Orange juice with iron rich foods

Are you now on strictly gluten free diet

Likely to need next dose increase in levothyroxine

Just testing TSH is useless unfortunately
