I’m confused about blood clots in this pandemic Covid virus. I’ve got APS & on a blood thinner 2 injections daily, am I not likely to get it
Is sticky blood (that’s the medical term that medical team) good or not for APS sufferers?

Not in 24/7 Afib anymore
I have been in constant afib for just over a year following my massive pulmonary embolism - caused by the afib most likely. I've been on blood thinner and beta blocker every since. One failed cardioversion. However, this morning I've woken up and actually feel well, really well, when I usually feel pretty

Open Heart Surgery W/ ITP
On 11/8/2019 I had my 1st Heart Attack. Platelet Count was 3K. Stents would not be a option, because of lifetime Blood thinners. Would need open Heart surgery - 3 way bypass. This is not possible until my platelets get to 100K to perform the operation. Starting in late Dec 2019 I would start NPLATE injections

Hello, I'm new here.
Hi, everyone. I'm new to the forum and want to say hi. I had my pulmonary emboli in Aug. 2018 and was formally diagnosed with APS about a year and a half later, though unofficially in Feb. 2019. I have a great hematologist, whom I like and trust, but I've only recently learned much about APS. For example

Do You Have Dark Urine Caused by Anti-coagulants or Blood Thinners?
I am 72. I was put on Xeralto 20 mg after having 4 cardiac arrests & a pacemaker put in, June 2018. I have occasional AFib episodes, but hardly ever feel them. About 4 months ago I started getting dark urine in the evenings and tests showed blood. Before that, it was always perfectly clear and pale

Starting Warfarin
Hello everybody I hope you are all keeping safe. I have been taking the anticoagulant Riveroxaban but have had numbness in my feet and lower legs. My cardiologist doesn’t think that the Riveroxaban is the cause of this but it did start at the same time as starting the anticoagulant. I was thinking of

Feel like a fraud!
I've been restoring an old cottage and enjoying the process. About 18 months ago I noticed I was getting tired more and more easily, then I started getting minor chest-pains during some of the more physical activities such as carrying heavy materials etc. They were always minor. They always passed quickly

Has anyone had a Steroid injection whilst on anticoagulants for AF?
I have had AF for many years and currently taking Rivaroxaban, Nebivolol, Felodipine and Ranitidine. I have been suffering from Plantar Fascitis for several months and just can’t shake it off. It has now been suggested that I have an ultrasound guided steroid injection into my foot. Obviously, this can

COVID storms and APS flares.
Is it possible that we who have APS are witnessing the dawning of awareness that our "flares" are similar to COVID cytochrome storms? Will we see Dr. Hughes' work in coming up with the answers to treating both? Namely anticoagulation... Will antiphospholipid antibody, etc become a household word soon

Covid 19 & Presence of Lupus anti-coagulant?
Please could someone explain the info, re Presence of a lupus-anticoagulant may explain prolonged activated partial thrpmboplastin time in Covid 19. Does this mean those of us with APS who have the lupus anticoagulant antibody and are on Warfarin because of previous clots, are more protected or less

I’ve posted on here a few days ago but didn’t really go into my story , but now I’m feeling broken and feel I need to put it out there and try to unburden a little . My husband went into hospital on 7th April with breathing difficulties ( Covid ) . He was put on ventilator more or less straight away

"Blood Thinners" may help patients with severe Covid
See: https://edition.cnn.com/2020/05/06/health/blood-thinners-coronavirus-clots-study/index.html This study looked at patients on ventilators. Only 29% of those on "blood thinners" died compared with 63% not on "blood thinners". It's an early result and is an indication rather than a definite finding

Esomeprazole while on blood thinners
Hi, has anyone taking Nexium (Esomeprazole) while on blood thinner clopidergrel? I've learned that interacts with blood thinners but I have indigestion problem lately (had hiatus hernia in the past), and my GP wanted me to try Esomeprazole for 2 weeks and see if it helps. I am just a bit worried and
