Confused from Reading too Much about Carbimazole 5mg
Hi I'm new to all this. Before now I have never worried about what medication I have been prescribed, but then my doctor told me the side effects and I felt I needed to find out more before taking it, as it made me nervous. My TPO is 50 kU/L (0-5.6), TSH .05 miu/L (0-7), T3 5 pmol/L (1-9) and T4 12.4

He also explained that the likelihood is that the heart was - or is now - slightly stretched and this alone increases the likelihood of impaired pumping so I should be on

up to now.

Blood thinner and ablation
Hi, I have had proximal afib for about 3 years. The attacks are becoming more frequent & longer (10-20 hours), maybe every 3 months & I want to see if an ablation will work for me. I consulted with a cardiologist for a cyroblation. He does them while you stay on your blood thinner. In my case it’s eloquis

We are conducting a survey on Anticoagulation for Atrial Fibrillation and would be delighted if we could get your feedback. It will only take five minutes and can provide us with some essential input to ensure you are receiving the support needed to best manage your condition. To start the patient survey

Date for ankle surgery
So I’m booked in 22 October for my ankle surgery. My orthopedic surgeon will liaise with my EP about anticoagulation and anything else he needs to know. I’ve filled out the online forms for the hospital and anesthetist. I was interested to see in my anesthetist’s bio that as well as her experience

Come off Warfarin
Hi , I have Occipital neuralgia which is agony . The problem I have is that the can give me the correct medication to treat it because if the warfarin , my gp suggested changing to a NOAC anticoagulant . I was just wondering who of you who aren’t on warfarin what do you take and is it as affective .

Given contradictory information
I've just been told by a hematologist that Warfarin does not effect the blood screen outcome. He said that Apixaban can but not Warfarin. An APS specialist advised that I should come off all anti-coagulants if I am to decided to repeat the screen. Not sure who is correct and I find people arguing both

Double Lung Transplant
My uncle got a double lung transplant September 11, 2020. He is currently in ICU. He had to have 2 emergency surgeries due to one of the lungs not working properly. He was put on an ECMO machine and ventilator. 2 days later they put him on dyalisis. I've been visiting him daily. It's so hard to see him

BLOOD THINNER😡
Anticoagulants
, or "blood thinners" as they are popularly known, can keep blood clots from forming or getting bigger, and can therefore help with recovery from heart defects or prevent further complications.

Anticoagulants described as blood thinners
Warfarin belongs to a group of medicines called
. It is used to reduce the clotting ability of the blood. (It is sometimes called a ‘blood thinner’,
but it doesn’t actually thin the blood

My first AFib episode since diagnosis
I do understand that once you are on
anticoagulants
, AFib episodes are not classed as urgent, but I was told by cardiology at the time of diagnosis that they still need to know as it will have impact on my future treatment plans.

Eye health
I had to share this revelation. 5 years ago I was diagnosed with an unusual type of glaucoma. I've been unable to tolerate any glaucoma medication. Glaucoma is a situation where your eye pressures are too high and it starts to irreversibly destroy the optic nerve, ultimately resulting in total blindness

Me and my big mouth......!
He also explained about how the new
anticoagulants
work, and how they are more effective for most people( not all) than warfarin.New ones work directly on the clotting process, warfarin indirectly. So I am waiting to see what happens now.

Cardiac on top of MBC
Has anyone here had "open heart" surgery? I ask because besides the MILBC I've been living with for over 16 years, I've developed a couple of cardiac issues, a leaky mitral value and a-fib. My cardiologist referred me to a cardiac surgeon hoping one (open heart in which the sternum would be cut thru
