Why Warfarin, Apixaban, Dabigatran, or Rivaroxaban???
I'm at a loss to understand why GPs and cardiologists have a preference for one or the other of the anticoagulants. Warfarin is more or less understandable based on history and familiarity and ease of tracking effectiveness. It's also understandable why many patients, including myself, don't want to

Meds -- phooey
I've taken just about everything and not only do the drugs not work, I feel like with each, I'm taking a "Parkinson's pill" that gives me all the PD symptoms and does nothing to help mitigate the ones I've already got. In recent days it was Artane. I went from having a pronounced tremor on my right side

Chest Pain. Popping in chest. It just won't go away.
I feel like I am starting to annoy people on here sometimes, but it's not my fault that I am a constant worrying.. Blame anxiety for that. Anwho: Okay for the past couple weeks I have been having really bad chest pain. I have told my doctor about it and she said it's just my anxiety. Okay so I figured

Medical experts furious that doctors will be paid to dole out 'risky' statins
With the Express newsapers, we can always expect what they say one day to be reversed a few days later. Nonetheless, today's statin story is quite a strongly worded piece - and was on the front page. [i]

A blood test to measure troponin, a protein released from the heart during a heart attack. £5 and £20.
A simple blood test costing around £5 could help doctors spot twice as many heart attacks in women, a study has claimed. The British Heath Foundation (BHF), which funded the research, said the highly sensitive test could "save many more women's lives" by reducing the risk of them having future heart

Fear of heart attack
I am 64 and live with a fear of heart attack. I read the symptoms for women and I have them all ... a lot. I finally went to my physician and told her it was something that I was afraid of (that was some years back.) She said "Lets just get rid of that right now" and sent me for an EKG and stress test

Pomegranate Juice
Some medications for high blood pressure include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), lisinopril (Prinivil, Zestril), ramipril (
Altace
), and others. Medications for high blood pressure (Antihypertensive drugs) Pomegranate seems to lower blood pressure.

Trying to get rid of my anxiety
hi everyone, I'm new to this site, just recently found it but it helped me so much. Basically I have been struggling with anxiety for more or less 6 years but only for a year now it's been quite severe. In the past 1 year it sort of stopped my life to the point where I don't even want to leave my house

For all those that still think they need statins, cholesterol gives you a heart attack and that high blood pressure kills...

Curiouser and Curiouser
Bloody confusing, if you ask me! As some may know, I had my 2nd ablation around this time last year. I had my 3 month check up - still in NSR and advised to stop taking warfarin and Flecanide which I said I wasn't prepared to do as I wasn't confident doing that. OK - we will see you again in November
