Beyond exhausted
I am the main carer i.e. the buck stops here, for my 90 yr old mum. I should say now that I love her dearly because what I am about to write might make you think otherwise. Since my dad died 11 years ago I have moved from support for my mum to main carer. In Jan 2018 she had a stroke and at the same

Ostomy to 5K - Day 1 Down!
I had two surgeries over the past year-and-a-half to give me a permanent ileostomy, which without a doubt has given me my life back - and now, after 10+ years of illness, I have to figure out what to actually do with that life! I have always hated running, mostly because when you have no stamina or muscles

Navigating asthma
Hi everyone. I was diagnosed with full-blown asthma last year after more than a decade of fighting progressively worsening hayfever/allergy symptoms and two failed rounds of immunotherapy. The first combined preventative inhaler I tried gave me migraines. The second type prolonged tension headaches.

Bowel endometriosis
Hello, I was diagnosed with endometriosis of the bowel at 24 and at age 25 I had my bowel shaved. I’m now 29 years old (not yet had children but do want them in a couple of years time) and after another laparoscopy, I have been told I require an anertiror resection of the upper bowel and that the endometriosis

Respiratory Illness and Vitamin D - New Article / Research
As many will know, although Asthma and COPD are different diseases, what helps with one will often help with the other. Also, a number of Asthmatics have Asthma / COPD overlap syndrome. The link I’ve included below leads to an Article that discusses Vitamin D in the context of COPD, but will likely also

Feeling frustrated
I just received a condescending letter from my consultant. I had a blood allergy test come back as normal. Already had one so was expecting this. But i know i have allergies, the sneezing, coughing and watery eyes tells me so! I also had lung function tests. Which came back as normal. This confuses me

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”
Hi folks, That quote is not referring to any old food like the man-made food you can buy in the shops. ‘fake food’ as I call it. It is talking about REAL food. The food that comes from the earth. Food is grown from seed, no chemicals should be involved. When I was little, I had a terrible junk food diet

Intolerance test
Hi, i have sent off hair samples for a complete intolerance test as doctors will not test me for allergies as like looking for needle in haystack. Has anyone had this test and if so do you think it is accurate.

Asthma plan
How are you meant to get an asthma plan if your gp's are refusing to give you one. I have requested one multiple times and I am still refused in getting one

Consultant recommending straight to ivf
Just been to see my consultant who is recommending that once I am fully healed we go straight to ivf as it is too risky for us to try naturally. Needless to say I am all over the shop with my emotions. Just wondering if anyone else has been told this as well? Feeling alone at the moment. Husband is very

Eosiniphilic asthma - long term risks?
I was diagnosed with eosiniphilic asthma in 2017 and started mepo in 2018. However it was never discussed whether or not there were any long term risks with the condition?

Acoustic Radiation Force Impulse Imaging
I saw a different consultant today. He was happy with my 17kg weight loss since 13th December. Some of this was enforced but more on that later. He didnt appear to be convinced totally that I have cirrhosis, which I am sure all those diagnosed would be ecstatic to hear. Yes my last fibroscan indicated

Refused inhaler by doctor as prescription not due yet
Twice my doctors surgery has refused me an inhaler as I wasn't due to get a new prescription yet. Although it was winter and had to use my inhalers more often (as recommended by the asthma nurse) due to several chest infections. My asthma is well controlled till I catch colds and flu in winter. Has
