Learning about Asthma through Covid-19
Hello, I can honestly say, that I have learnt more about my asthma in the 3 or so months since the pandemic started than anyone ever told me about it in the 20 years prior. When suddenly I was classed as "vulnerable" I did some searching to find out why. Turns out I really didn't (don't?) understand

Asthma inhaler side effects
My asthma is well controlled and I take one puff of fostair 100/6 (I’ve had asthma for about a year now.) I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with negative side effects from their inhaler? I think I have some of the symptoms of hypothyroidism (weight gain, tiredness, slightly low heart rate).

AUKs face mask exemption graphic
Hi all. Another copy and paste from the Facebook page but hope this helps with some of the anxiety over face masks: “The government have said that people with asthma who find face coverings make it harder for them to breathe do not need to wear one, but we know lots of you have said that you feel nervous

Pulse Oximeters (oxygen saturation finger probes)
Hi all, I hope everyone is well and staying safe😊 . We wanted to post something about the use of pulse oximeters as these generate lots of discussion on here.

Does anyone have asthma and COPD overlap syndrome? how common is this syndrome or is it often misdiagnosed?
My GP suspects I may have asthma/COPD overlap. Due to the current pandemic I’m unable to have spirometry test or chest x-Ray. I had asthma as a child and I’m an ex-smoker. My asthma has manifested again in the year. I am worrying whether my breathing will ever be stable again! The only COPD symptom I

B12 and yeast/mold allergy
Is there any evidence that people with mold/yeast allergy should not supplement with B12, as my understanding is all B vitamins are grown on yeast. I have had a very difficult time with B vitamins in general. I have had severe mold/yeast allergy since early childhood.

Wine struggle?
Does anyone experience worsening of their asthma after drinking white wine? It’s happened to me twice this week. I didn’t think anything of it until the last asthma episode.

Asthma and underweight issues
I recently heard this theory and wanted everyone’s thoughts about it. It is believed that in some cases asthma can cause sufferers to be underweight due to the fact that a full stomach can push against the diaphragm making breathing difficult. I’ve suffer from asthma since I was a child and have always

Asthma May Not Be a Major Risk Factor for COVID-19
When the CDC named underlying medical conditions that might make a person vulnerable to the coronavirus, asthma made the list. But early evidence appears to show asthma doesn’t raise the risk of getting the virus, though both conditions are lung disorders. In New York state, the epicenter of the pandemic

Bumps on my penis
I wrote here like 3 weeks ago. for almost 3 months I have been itchy on the foreskin and testicles that come with red bumps on my penis. Itching initially began elsewhere in the body and then reached the genital area and looks like red bumps (only in the area shown on image) . Blood and urine tests

New to asthma, how do I know the triggers that set it off? Has anyone invested it allergy tests etc?
I had a severe asthma attack in 2018 as an adult brought about by a cold and I ended up in resuscitation. I have been ever so careful in controlling my asthma, however yesterday, I woke up with a tight chest and struggled to breathe and had an asthma attack and rushed into A&E. I dont know what could

Add on drugs that are usually prescribed by GP; montelukast, LABAs, combination inhalers and steroids!
Those more likely to benefit are from the
allergic
phenotype, or who have ‘exercise induced’
asthma
(EIA) and works to reduce inflammation in the airways. They may take up to 6 weeks to kick in, but if by then you’ve not noticed a difference your GP will likely discontinue it.

What I wish I had asked my GP/asthma nurse (when first diagnosed 😉)
Hi everyone This is a repost of one of my posts from over 2 years ago 😱😱😂, but I thought it would be useful to update it, and repost it to anyone new to the forum and to asthma in general! A few years ago I read an article about shared appts with GPs ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-45770998 ), and
