Moan about ignorant medics
I am just going to tell you my medication saga but before I do I apologise to all the peeps who have much more to put up with. I just need to tell somebody who will understand my frustration! Earlier in the year I was prescribed 240mgs of diltiazem. The pharmacist provided Adizem. I hated it, felt awful

Hospital visit today
I've just returned from my visit to the Cardiology Department at my local hospital. At no time did I see a Cardiologist. A very lovely Nurse Practitioner took all my details and read my ECG print out and then trotted off to see the Consultant. She returned and offered me a cardioversion, but I would

New to me - No longer in Control
Late 50's, single and was in very good shape.. Now out of control with lethargy and shortness of breath, tired etc on several drugs to combat the AF. Not use to ~not being very physical and active and now on the cliff of depression as I was diagnosed with AF a few years ago - Cardizem and Pradaxa

Slow release diltiazem, Adizem versus Slozem etc
After seeing several posts referring to side effects from slow release diltiazem meds I thought it might be helpful to share this with you. I was prescribed 240mg of SL Diltiazem and was given Adizem for several cycles. I was not happy ( understatement! ) with the side effects and asked my GP to lower

Has anyone had their meds changed to a generic med?
After a few years on Requip XL which suited me very well, I received a letter from my GP informing me that I was being changed to Repinex XL. I tried this and almost immediately my tremor returned and I felt generally unwell. My Parkinsons Nurse told me to ask my GP to put me back on my original medication

Can anyone tell me when they say a tab is addictive is it that you want more or need more, when you say addictive it's as if you enjoy taking them and want more. When I was on Requip Xl I started on 2mg and finished up taking 8 mg I wouldn't say I was addicted I just needed then. Beady 3 x

The need for knowledge
Hello to all. Firstly let me say how delighted I was to find this site and to find other sufferers of AF. I thought I was the only one!!! So to read your posts has been a real tonic. I had my first bout of AF about 7 years ago. I have had high blood pressure since my 20's and was told that AF

Request to see an EP
Having met some resistance from my GP re my request for repeat visit to Cardiology "ablation not without risk you know" I went back after taking myself off Adizem (bad reaction) to have another go at him. I was surprised that a much younger GP was taking his surgery; he seemed to be much more clued up

Thanks...but I'm still sinking...
Many thanks to everyone who gave me advice when I posed the question "What is the truth about medications?" However, I'm caught in the pd trap along with all other sufferers...as I twitch and jerk about I read that I should try to reduce my Stalevo and/or RequipXL but without these I cant move...I used

Beta blocker or calcium channel blocker?
I've been on Bisoprolol for over two years. Started at 2.5mg but the dose was fairly promptly raised to 5mg/day. It seems to be keeping my heart rate down but I think of it as my "devil drug" since I get very very tired several times almost every day. Saw an EP for the first time last week and he suggested

I have insomnia after having pd for 10 years. Usually take Zopiclone 7.5 but also trying Asphalia. Anybody got info on this?
Take Stalevo 5 times/day plus 14mg Requip XL for the pd.

Are rate control drugs necessary when heart rate is within a "normal range" although AF is 24/7?

Does anyone have atrial fibrillation?
I was diagnosed with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) last August, at a time when I was on the waiting list for thyroid surgery. Since then I had several episodes of AF (lasting for six to twelve hours on average). Been taking flecainide for a while and recently also Dilzem. Waiting for catheter ablation

Afib returned after two years
Had three cardiac ablations. Last one symptom and med free for two years. Always converted with IV meds in under 30 mintues. This time was in rapid afib for 13 days even on meds. Back on Cardizem, Multaq and Xarelto. Had to be cardioverted last week. Will see new EP Wednesday to discuss 4th ablation.

I've had migraines 27 years. When Imitrex was put on the market (the injections) I began using them.
I went from having 2 to 3 migraines/severe nausea, a month to 8 or 9, when I began using Imitrex. My Dr. said it was a coincidence. That went on for 20 years. I was given 6 shots a month so either suffered in bed, or went to the ER. for an additional shot. Then a cardiologist put me on Cardizem

Three weeks without pacing the floor every night for hours!!!
I started taking Requip XL 4mg three weeks ago because my standard one was not available (out of UK at the time). Apparently the slow release is not used here for RLS but I managed to get it from my GP as I told her my symptoms were so much better. It's been three weeks now and I've had hardly any symptoms

Swollen Feet and Ankles
I have put my question somewhere else - am not familiar with the new system as yet. I am on Dilzem XL capsules and they certainly have improved my breathing but I really have very swollen feet and ankles. The leaflet inside the box says one in ten people suffer with swollen feet whilst taking this
