New class

Due to reduced hours/days at work I have more time in the week to explore exercise classes. There are many different types of local classes to choose from…. Zumba, line dancing, Aquafit, yoga, table tennis, Tai Chi, Pilates, boxing and a very local gym…..which to choose 🤔. I already walk, run and do a few strength exercises at home. Some of the classes were full or not a convenient time but then I spotted a notice for a new Pilates class and immediately contacted the instructor. Luckily there were spaces and so I joined up and did my first ever Pilates class last week!

I really enjoyed the class - gentle standing warm ups to start the session then moving to the floor and various stretches, bridges Oldfloss 😉 and some balance work. Quiet gentle music in the background so very relaxing. The instructor explained some of the moves- I like knowing which muscles I am using. She also came round to correct my posture occasionally (hard to see what to do when lying on the floor! 😂 ). I do sometimes have problems with spondylitis in the neck so was careful with certain moves. Felt good throughout and seemed ok the next day. Looking forward to the next class 👍😊

This sounds to have been a really sucessful start to your new chapter... and one that you are clearly going to enjoy!

Bridges included too... I like that. I am finding the benefits already, of the bridge! It sounds a very peaceful and very relaxed class, indeed.

I hope it continues to be helpful! x

You really are making the most of your reduced hours and new class is a great way to do that 😀

Yes, wonderful to have more time. I was getting very stressed with work last year - so much to do and not enough time!

I totally understand that, my work was the same, never leaving on time, which decided me to retire.....

Sounds like a really terrific class!! Enjoy!

My next goal is to start doing some chair exercises whilst I'm on the IC.

I'm stimulating my brain (and stomach) with an online course from Leith's and will start an Oxford Cont Ed course - Shakespeare and his World in October.

There are some really good chair exercises available online, I think a lot of places do classes too. Enjoy your Shakespeare course 😊
