Day 4: Getting the thigh burn with Form and Flow

📆 Day 4 of my focus on my knees, today with Laura, from Form and Flow, who does a 27min, mat based Pilates session.

🧘🏽🧘🏿🧘🧘🏻I have to admit, having now done 5 sessions with 4 different Pilates or Yoga instructors, I wouldn’t be able to chose between them. I really like them all.

👩‍💻 And I’m sure for Pilates instructors across the globe it has been quite a shift to change to online delivery, but for the choice of workouts I suddenly have access to, it’s been great.

💿 I do remember a weak attempt of mine ca 17 years ago to get more fit with exercise DVDs

and I had bought two sets. Both were way above my level, and I gave up (but did join a class for some time). But it just shows the luxurious position we are in for being able to chose from a large number of online a available videos.

🚴 And Laura’s workout is different from the others, but also great. It does focus on a large section of sideways-lying pedalling motions, which start to really burn in your hips and thighs.

😓 These movements make your muscles burn, but without working up a sweat. So it does not quite feel like you were really working out. So to remedy that, and being inspired by Maddee6333, I added my Day 1 workout as well, the lovely chair based session focussing also on knees, and with Pilates instructor Rachel.

🪑I might just chose that exercise to add to every workout, as being chair based, it might just provide something different after more sweaty standing workouts or those on the mat.

Happy knees everyone!

Glad you are enjoying this CBDB. 😄

Be careful about that burning muscle feeling. “Go for the burn” was a quote used decades ago - but has since been said to be wrong & absolutely not what we should aim for. I have been doing Pilates for 11 years, and while my muscles feel challenged and ache a bit sometimes, I have never felt them burning.

Take care of you 😘😘

Good call. Thanks for the heads up. They were definitely burning and I did wonder why she did not alternate legs to give the other a bit of rest.

My Pilates instructor says “rest if you need to” many times in every session. 😉 She also demonstrates different levels of exercises & strongly affirms doing it at the right level for YOU.😄

😁

I went to investigate the workouts you had on your list, and found at least one other that might do me but I can’t bring it to mind right now - I have a new phone so currently using 2 phones and am currently on the other one.

It might have been this one? It has standing, Mat and chair exercises but is very gentle.

I do have a list of ca 5 others that came from this forum, and which I haven’t tried out yet. Let me know if you want me to send them here. It’s great to be able to share them as I’m getting so much from this forum.

I would like to see the links please. I have dipped into Yoga and Pilates over the years but have never found any that I particularly like ,they all seem a bit dull.Thank you very much for sharing.
