Five Tibetan Rites: Day 7/7 We did it!!!

We’ve done it!!! We’re there! We have integrated a short but very effective and mindful strength and flexibility practice into our daily routine!

WELL DONE, EVERYONE!!!!

As mentioned yesterday, this challenge will end at this point, but the one or other Yogi might decide to continue with a daily practice of 5 repetitions, or 7 repetitions or a few even go up all the way to 21 (yups, that’s me 😳😳😳).

So let us know how you found it!

And as a reminder of why these are so good, below the generally acknowledged benefits of doing these daily: 1) they support complete range of motion, 2) they attend to both strength and flexibility, 3) they keep the spine healthy, 4) promote blood flow, 5) increase lung capacity, 6) incorporate full shoulder extension seldom found in more traditional gym routines and of course 7) they work with the breath and promote mental peace.

So here for the last time another follow along video:

👀👀👀 WARM UP: Ocean Vayu Yoga (3:45 min) 3 MINUTE STANDING YOGA - A super short practice for everyone

👀👀👀 ABLED BODIED VERSION:

Ray Rasamny (8 min, 3 reps) Morning Movement - Five Tibetan Rites

This has only 3 reps, so add a few more of your up to 7 for our glorious finale:

And there we have it. We did it!

You did it! AWESOME!!!

Congratulations for finishing the 5 Tibetan Rites Challenge! See you on the mat!!!

Thanks for this you!

I did not quite make it... this week has been a hard one, but nothing to do with the exercises. Time has been limited and appointments and subsequent issues arising for Mr OF has meant I have had to tweak and bit and bob!

But, having the option of seated exercise means you can do some of the rites, anytime, anywhere! The waiting room of the GP surgery was a great place.. only us and the receptionist!

So maybe challenge not completed fully, for me...but I have enjoyed the bits I have successfully completed! x

Sorry to hear you have had a hard week OF 😕. Yes, I agree these exercises are great because they can be adapted to suit individuals and how we feel each day. Take care

Oh no. Hope it all settles down. But it sounds like you adapted and completed! And as you say, the strength in this practice lies in its adaptability! Fabulously well done!

DONE! I think this is the first HU challenge I have actually managed to complete 😂 I liked the videos although didn’t actually do a warm up today. I did 3 spins today and looked down (as he says in the video)- that helped but still prefer the twisting. I have always suffered with motion sickness so spinning makes me feel sick! 😵‍💫 I managed 7 reps of the other rites. Rite 2 I find hard work but love Rite 5 - good to end on that one 😊.

A huge thank you CBDB for organising this challenge and researching the videos. Best of luck with working towards 21 reps - amazing!

Well done!!! Yes, we’ll see how I fare. It might be a combination of seated and standing, especially rite 3 & 4.

Well done!!!

Fabulous!!!

I fear we can only have one badge at a time, so we didn’t do a badge for this one as it’s only 7 days, but here’s a virtual medal!

Congratulations!

I did complete the rites, albeit sitting, and managed OK although my lower back and lower abdomen were whinging a bit 🙄I won't be continuing with the rites - yoga is still not my thing - but, as Oldfloss reminded me yesterday, there are plenty of stretching resources here that don't necessarily involve rolling around on the floor 🤣

That sounds like a good way forward! Well done. (I’ve been doing daily stretches since starting to run and it really helped with all sorts of other things)

To get some ideas, we do have a flexibility oriented folder at healthunlocked.com/strength... Which has a lot of posts, including yoga and tai chi but also other stretching workouts.

Happy stretching! 👏👍🏽💪🏽🙌

Thank you for the pointer and the encouragement 😁 I do a short Qi Gong session most mornings - I find it helps to shake off the morning stiffness - so let's see if I can find an add-in 👍

Brilliant that you did this despite knowing yoga isn't for you. Well done 👏👏👏♥️♥️♥️🙂
