Changing Room Chat... last few days of NOVEMBER...Not enough TIME ?

Good morning everyone...

Here I am, and heading into a new week and the last few days before December kicks in...

The corner was very, very quite last week... I think the wind or weather, and the busy lives we are leading had a real impact on who popped in.

But we are here now and. I have some super smoothies to refresh us, whether we are running, or walking or simply exercising our grateful bodies.

The absence of folk last week got me thinking, again! We are, many of us , coming in to a month that gets increasingly busy. Whether we observe Christmas as such, or are jut affected by the general mayhem and frenzied activity that seems to emanate from it, it may become difficult to maintain our running, our walking or our exercise routines!

So, before December begins, I am just going to share a few ideas I have researched and hopefully, some folk will pop in and share their tips and strategies for handling things over the next few weeks.

Okay.... First things first...

* Have a plan... Decide the where, the when and how you intend to proceed. Planning is a great way to make sure the exercise happens.

Work out what schedule works for YOU... by doing that, the chances are , it will get done.

Decide where your exercises will happen... outdoors, indoors, office or work places?

Be flexible... the exercise don't have to happen at the same time each time you do them.

* Set out your gear... in preparation for your exercise routine, your walk or your run... make sure you have gear to reflect a change in the weather and the tine of day you will be out and about... or indoors.

If you are at home, not too much of a problem, but a gym or at work, means changes of clothes and time to get where you need to be.

If you are working and office or desk bound...use the space you are in...loads of workouts are designed for the times you cannot choose your locations. Remember, just a short burst of activity is really going to give positive results.

* Do a multi muscle workout, and shake things up.

You might be exercising simply to support your other main exercise or to help recovery from an illness or injury, or to strengthen a particular weakness, so choose the exercise you need...and if possible ones that you will enjoy doing. Try maybe to incorporate exercise that benefits more than one area?

Basically, when time is short, we need to try really hard to get into the right mind -set... a little is all it may need and if we can only manage short bursts of exercise, that is absolutely fine

Also... REST. As things may be getting a tad frenetic, remember that we really, really need to make sure that we do get a break.

If things are getting too much... then just accept it, ease off and opt for simpler , more gentle workouts and plenty of kindness for YOU.

So, a few ideas there which may help and a heads-up, that when December starts I shall be putting out some great fun posts to help support us, keep us moving and keep us positive and happy too

Watch this space.

Okay...time for you to sit down , kick off the exercise shoes and share any tips or ideas you have for fitting in exercise to your already busy lives !

Hopefully, we may see a few of you!

Fab suggestions.

As you know, I actually love the act of planning. So that one is an easy one for me, as the act of planning is for me motivating in itself. But I do think that there are nowadays so many exciting, ready-made plans out there, that also those of us who do not like the planning part, can adapt a pre-existing plan for one’s purposes.

I’ve had so much fun over the years creating my own personal training plans, ones that speak to my own, personal passions, weaknesses, current fitness practices, equipment availability or seasons. It allows me to lean into my passions and that keeps me really motivated.

As an example, I think my possibly most fun plan was this one: healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and one can tell from the contents of the plan, I just wanted to experience the richness of what the fitness world had to offer me, a new C25k graduate at the beginning of this phase of her health journey!

So planning is definitely on the top of my list of tricks to keep going through the colder season!

And if anyone needs an easy planner template, here’s one attached that I’ve used before…. And don’t those empty spots just beckon you to fill them with something!?

Thanks for this post  Oldfloss ! I’m popping in to say hello!

I don’t have a busy life and I can fortunately fit in exercises when it suits me.

I’ve been continuing my step aerobics journey and have totally fell in love with it all over again!

I’ve got into the habit of doing yoga when I wake up or the Tibetan rites…this morning I went for a wee yoga routine, which set me up nicely to do a wee step workout where I learned 6 new advanced moves. I then did some cool down stretches.

I plan my exercises the night before and I’ve started keeping a journal for my fitness journey so I can keep track of what I’ve done and how I found it. I think I’ll do the same when I restart C25K in January and also for my virtual walking challenge.

Busy, busy times ahead for me!!

Great suggestions, as always, from you!

I appreciate you 🖤

🍏 Morning Old Floss.. a quick pop in as hubby watches Motor Racing Final & we wait for our Face Time with the US family.

I agree it’s planning that’s key to getting through busy periods & we have to plan that rest in too sometimes. However for me the discipline of routine saves the day. Fortunately being an early morning runner I can have it all sorted before the busyness takes over. …

Thanks for quick pop in… must go now.. love you all…

hello and welcome...thanks for calling in... that routines is excellent...having a clear focus of what is happening. The trick, of course for some of us, is not being too rigid and taking any set-backs in our stride...

Yes, an early run does free the day wonderfully! We will see you soon x

I'll sit for a few minutes as slept late this morning and in a can't be bothered mode, a cup of tea and ideas from all may motivate me to at least do something 😁Happy Monday catch up cornerers ( is that a new word?)

Hi! I was off the radar last week with a bit of hip pain.. I'd been doing a lot of driving and not sure exactly what else set it off, but found some exercises online and it's much better now. A friend said it sounded like sciatica, but I thought the pain of that was sharper like a nerve pain, and this was more a deep ache. Anyway I'm glad it's pretty much gone now. I see you wrote about fun... I think that's what I'm missing in my s&f! Must look up a few routines on YouTube, and maybe find some that'll do the trick!

Sorry for this late reply.. ! Good to see you here.. and ouch !

That sounds to have been painful. Sciatica and trapped nerves can cause real pain,,. deep and aching as well as sharp! I am glad you are feeling easier now!

Yes.. fun is the watch word over the next weeks! I think, as in our running, what we do to support our body, should be something that is not a chore...so I am going to try to motivate folk, give ideas that can be done in what may be a bust few weeks and just lighten the mood a tad:)
