Thursday dawned... a really good night's sleep and much needed after a bit of a rough day sorting stuff out for and with Mr OF...
We both felt much better and after a lovely, slow wake up session with Adreine.. I felt ready to start the day.
The usual routines, (and some of you know them as well as I) ! Time for the Tibetan Rites this morning too !
Breakfast eaten and then off for my walk and talk session.
The day was fine and sunny, but with a slight chill in the air... the first hints maybe, of the season to come. A few more folk around , making the most of the sunshine days, but we set off around a less popular path.
As soon as I walk, my breathing settles, the gentle sound of our footfall, setting a steady pattern.
Walking under the trees, still green-canopied and full-leafed, I can almost feel that I am drawing strength from them.
Their strong trunks, rooted and firm... they make me sure-footed and my legs, which a few weeks ago, were not my own, now being to me again and they move without me having to concentrate on moving them.
I am not as aware of my breathing as I was...it is coming naturally, apart from after a little incline which did show me that my fitness is not back to what it was, just yet. But, it will be !
We walk, I talk, she talks, I listen... and before we know it we have gone further and we are already on the homeward track.
We pass all those familiar places, we exchange greetings with a few walkers. smiles and a hand wave. Children climbing a tree I climbed as a child , laughter and joy. The track is dry and the grass thick.
We pass the cows; this side of the stream today... lazily chewing the cud, and barely batting a long lashed eye as we walk past. They are so used to people and their dogs!
We pause. Their heavy stillness, in the morning sunshine is almost soporific. There is a quiet serenity about them, which is catching and as we walk on...our pace slows for a while.
But before I know it, we are back at the cars... and it is time for home...My companion messages me at home and tells me we walked further and... I walked faster !
Yes... me... faster ! These routine exercises, yoga and everything else are working. I may not always realise it, but they are.
The afternoon....there were jobs to do.... but after lunch, the relaxation of the day was still on me...
I did little. A bit of sketching... and bit of sorting and a lot of sitting down.
Rest is just as important as exercise... we really, really do have to remember that.
And with that thought in mind. I remembered it.
The cows had the right idea. Sometimes you just have to chill out .
Sleep or rest easy, everyone.
See you tomorrow.
