A very busy week, lots of essential housework (cleaning up after visiting kids, grandkids and workmen), enjoying seeing family at a very sedate little tea party for my senior sister’s big birthday, and returning to my usual daily dog walks.
I was really looking forward to a long walk with a friend yesterday, but very soon after we set off I realised that I was probably asking too much of myself too quickly. My friend is younger and very fit, galloping up the hills.. she had already done a spin class in the morning.. I ended up going straight to bed at teatime with a bad headache and Garmin body battery of 5, which has only gone up to 14 this morning 😳
I’m not at all sorry I did the walk, as it was great to catch up with my lovely friend. The route was beautiful, uphill through woods, then south along the Cleveland way, returning along the cinder track to complete a circuit of just over 6kms. The original plan had been to walk further but as I was tiring we turned back at a point where the routes joined earlier than intended. We then drove a short distance to sit in the secret garden (see photo) for a few minutes for me to cool down.. (my friend was still full of beans 😂). We continued our chat over a mid-afternoon cuppa in the pop up tearoom on another beautiful garden terrace close by.
It wasn’t until I got home that I realised how shattered I was.. headache kicked in, and bed it was! I think I need to pace myself carefully this week.. let that be a lesson to me.

It sounds like you had a very busy week and stressful week, entertaining, clearing up and decompresing from people (even ones I like) exhausts me. I'll take the spin class any day over all of the above. I love the little bridge in your picture.
Exactly right! Lovely to see the kids and grandkids, but..
And decompressing.. maybe that’s why I’m so tired.. it’s the thought of all the sheets I’ve washed that are still waiting to be ironed.. 😂
I’ve never tried a spin class.. maybe I should..
The little bridge is part of what must have once been a lovely old Victorian garden belonging to a local retreat/conference hotel, but separated from it by a small road.. there is no bar to access, but most people don’t know it’s there.. a lovely peaceful space.
Hi PeggySusi that photo shows how beautiful your walk must have been. Sometimes when I'm walking in company, chatting, I don't realise how tired I'm getting, lol.
Ah, know the feeling. Be kind to yourself. Personally, I never iron bedding, it only gets creased when you sleep anyway, so I really don't see the point in it. Ah, I've said too much now, oops.
I just love getting into freshly smooth sheets.. but I certainly don’t judge anyone for avoiding ironing - I hardly iron anything else at all these days!
