So.... those of you who are up-to-date... who managed this pose in session 19???
Session 19 - balance!!!! : So.... those of... - Strength & Flex
Session 19 - balance!!!!
Guess you’re talking about the dreaded ‘Crow’?! Haha 😂 not a chance 😂 I have no idea how I’m supposed to get my knees anywhere near my upper arms!
How are you doing with it?
Ha ha, I had no idea what it was called 😂 it's hilarious!!
Just done day 9 tonight, I love it, wish I could fit more sessions in. I really like it's simplicity
😂 if you think that’s hilarious try side crow with extended legs. Now that is hilarious 🤣 Crow is a lot easier with a block under your feet and head but it is not an easy posture. Alternatively you can bend your elbows enough to make a shelf which lowers your centre of gravity and then makes it easier to balance. Good luck 🙏
I’m up to date with the YWA, I haven’t mastered the crow pose I tend to just watch her for this part of the session!
I think you have to be a Yogic Master with very short thighs and very long arms to do the Crow 😱
It hurts my wrists, it’s quite a strenuous pose for the wrists, and I’ve done yoga for many years and this one is not my favourite. On the flip side... I can do the wheel pose all day long and I don’t have the same trouble. I think the lesson is to listen to our body, if it says no, don’t ignore it, try it again another time and listen again... and again... and again 🙂
Yes, I’m the same with the wrists. Planks are fine but it’s the whole body with the Crow. I’m not flexible enough for the wheel, couldn’t even do it as a crab when I was a child.
Haha ah bless! The nice thing about yoga is there are tons of poses to try out and you’ll build your own journey of likes and dislikes and some will grow on you over time.
What do you plan to do after this 30 day plan? Have you thought that far ahead?
True. I am learning a lot from her videos, probably more than when I went to live classes. I’m thinking of just repeating the 30 days over again, maybe concentrate on some of the poses I can do and just improve them (building up balance and core strength would be useful)
What about you?
I want to continue doing her yoga sessions after the 30 days. I will try another one of her 30 day plans from her library or see what she has to offer in February. I’m also doing many of her 7 mins runners sessions on the days that I run, they are superb, I highly recommend them ❤️
Me! I managed it! I did! Only it didn't look anything like Adriene's version 😂😂😂. Define 'managed' 😍. She does give a few options .... like keeping your toes on the ground, or just lifting one foot at a time. There's managed and there's managed. Suffice to say I'm nowhere near flying (and I've always got at least two cushions in place to protect my beak just in case my feet do momentarily leave the ground).
More seriously, I'd love to be able to do this pose properly, so have been giving it a couple of minutes practice occasionally. Although I agree, it does put a lot of pressure on the wrists, I think the shoulders are key too. I watched a couple of other you tube vids on the pose and one gave some good cues re. the shoulders
Good luck, enjoy ... but remember to place some precautionary cushions under your beak before trying it out!
Well done, I'm impressed!! Maybe if I keep it up for a while... who knows!! And yes, I've been noticing the general pressure on the wrists. It's all doing good though 👍
Good effort Linda, with practise you’ll master it for sure, good tip about keeping cushions close by. I can’t believe it’s day 22/23 already, where has the time gone, really enjoy the daily practise and need to find something structured and convenient when I return to work x
Nope! My wrists are only just coping with downward dog, let alone the crow!! I did manage to get into the position with my toes on the floor, and just about got each foot off the floor individually (by about 1 inch!!), but both at the same time!!! 🤣
Have noticed how my wrist are getting stronger though- at the start I couldn't even hold downward dog for more than a couple of seconds, now I can nearly do all of them (nearly!) in each video.
Determined to keep up with it to the end of the month.
That still sounds good to me! It'll be about 10 days before I get to this session so I'm intrigued to see what I'll manage!! Do you think you'll do more once the 30 days are up?
Not sure yet. I have dipped into her routines before (like the 10 minute bedtime one and the yoga for runners ones). I'll keep doing it, but maybe not every day. I need to get back to running now my knees/legs seem ok, so will try and work out some kind of schedule. I'm not keen on running in the dark, so yoga suits me more at the moment!!!
I know what you mean but I’ve got arthritis in my fingers and wrists so it’s a bit tricky. My toes have definitely got stronger though. I will keep trying though 🤔
I can do it 😊😊😊
Well done... crow is fab for gaining strength and balance, and ideal if you are training for handstands... I personally love it.
