Concerned About Potential Ovarian Cancer

Hello, I have been going through screening for ovarian cancer. Several months ago I got a very heavy period that lasted over a month and landed me in the ER. I was prescribed progesterone which stopped the bleeding but they found a septaded complex cyst on my left ovary of 2.5cm. A couple of months later the bleeding happened again and they found through an intra vaginal ultrasound the cyst grew to 4.5cm within just a couple of months. I almost needed a blood tranfusion both times. I went down for another ultrasound a couple of days ago and get my results today, but it is starting to hurt and I feel like I can feel it growing...any suggestions with similar stories?

You probably have endometriosis? Not good to jump to conclusion that you have OC. Probably not. Vaginal bleeding is not the main or a prominent sign of OC. Probably and hopefully doctors are trying to find out what the cause of the bleeding is. Good luck!

Hi. It’s true that vaginal bleeding is not a typical symptom but a septated cyst seems like it should be evaluated. Could you ask for a petscan or a biopsy?

I went through something similar and will elaborate more in-depth if you want to DM me. My more important message is, if you are no longer planning to bear children, I would consider a TAH (total abdominal hysterectomy). I did, and I’m glad I did!
