In Sept 2019 I was diagnosed with advance stage 4 ovarian cancer that had metastasized and I had ascites, my ca125 was over 6500, I had my ascites drained a few times I started chemo with taxol and carboplatin in October I had debulking surgery, my omentum removed, part of my intestine, my ovaries and tubes removed in December ( I had a hysterectomy in 2017 and they left my tubes and ovaries). When I had the surgery the doctor could not remove all the cancer so I have a spot on my liver. a spot on my bladder, a spot my lung and a spot on my heart. I restarted chemo in January and since then my number hadn't gone down like they should of so i started Avastin (to cut off the blood supply to the tumors), in February with the taxol and carboplatin my ca125 has only gone down a couple hundred after my second round of Avastin with my chemo , has anybody else had the ca125 numbers going down very slowly Im scheduled for my 8th round of chemo and my 4th Avastin treatment in 2 weeks, has anybody else had this happen? does the Avastin work slowly or sometimes not work?

Like all the drugs used with ovarian cancer, avastin doesn't work for everyone. And I have yet to see any reliable way to predict who will respond and who won't. Sometimes it results in sustained stable disease as opposed to complete remission. You didn't mention what your CA125 was after your surgery and when you started chemo again. Where is it relative to that number to the original 6500? At some point you may want to get a second opinion. If this regimen ends up not being the answer for you, there are a number of other options out there.

Best wishes! Gwen
