Avastin and cold symptoms

Hi I have been on Doxil/Avastin for 2 cycles. It really seemed to be working well but then I developed the hand/foot syndrome !! This was pretty bad. Thank god I am over that (for the most part) and now I’m just on Avastin IV.

My question is I have had a cold on and off since I have been on Avastin ! Did anyone else experience this? I’m getting very nervous that I can’t shake this . My oncologist knows but don’t know what to do?

Hi Susan, yes I am on Avastin and have a perpetual cold , bleeding nose and sore joints. My oncologist says that these are known side effects

My nose was always running even when I took Clartin, it's a side effect of the chemo. Since stopping chemo in December it seems to be getting better.

Thank you for your feedback ! I don’t know why they say there is no real side effects ...

I was on Avastin for over a year as maintenance. It created high blood pressure and high protein in my urine. Have been off for over a year now. Went back on chemo and now deciding what is next,PARP inhibitor or more chemo. Never had cold symptoms.

Good luck and keep the faith

I had no symptoms with Avastin. It didn’t really do much for me though. I am on Zejula now and it is working so far.

Sherry, how long have you been on Zejula? And may I ask what stage ovarian cancer do you have? I am stage3c,have been since 2013. Looking into Zejula as maintenance. Thanks

I was diagnosed August 28, 2018 with stage IV ovarian cancer. Had 9 chemotherapy treatments then surgery and 9 more chemotherapy treatments. Was cancer free by February 2016. Was on Avastin every 3 weeks but reoccurred by November 2016 and started chemotherapy again. Finished in April. Zejula was approved in April. Started taking as soon as possible. Started with 300 mg, then had to go to 200mg and now on 100mg daily. Ct scan clear and ca125 at 23. It seems to be working well so far with no side effects now.

Sounds like you have come a long way. I too have had reoccurence 3 times. I hope to have good results on Zejula as well. Wil keep in touch. Thanks

I have been on Zejula since around June 2017 and on 100 mg. I just went for my second 3 month ct scan and still in remission. Blood work shows ca 25 at 26. Zejula is working so far! I’m all ready in remission longer than last time. I praise God for this blessing!

That’s so great ! Is it a chemo drug? Is there any criteria for this ! I was just on Doxil/Avastin and it was really working well but I had to get off Doxil because of the “severe hand -foot syndrome “. Then I was just on Avastin...but it wasn’t good alone so now I on Cytoxan with it. They just found a new spot ....so scared and depressed ! Hoping Cytoxan/Avastin does it!

Good luck to you !

Hi! To be approved for oral Zejula, you must have recently responded to a platinum based chemo, as I understand it. I’m recurring for fourth time & resume chemo soon...this time Gemzar, Avastin & a platinum base. Dr. Says I will be in the infusion center a lot in next 6 months.
